24.01.2022 DESIGN TIP #201 Mirrors baby! Mirrors, like people come in all shapes & sizes and not only help make a space look bigger they can also introduce a sense of harmony ... Now, don’t go crazy and start making a hall of mirrors. THERE'S A FEW THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW FIRST: - Consider what you want the mirror to reflect (i.e. think about what you are placing it across from). Don’t just hang the mirror on the nearest available wall space. Do you want to add more light to a space? Then hang it across from a window Want to really show off a nice piece of furniture or artwork? Then hang it across from that feature. - Okay now that you have the wall, make sure you hang it at the right height Unlike art, which should be hung at eye level, where you hang your mirror depends on what you want to reflect Remember: mirrors don’t need to be hung on walls, you can also use a full length mirror placed on the floor to make a narrow space like a hallway seem larger. - Finally, mirrors can be used as a focal point (see tip #199). By selecting the right mirror and frame or even using multiple eclectic mirrors to form a nice tableau you can make any space much more inviting
