23.01.2022 Creatine Overview and Review: What does it do? Our bodies use ATP during very intense exercise. On the attached graph, you can see it and Phospho-Creatine are our primary source of energy when exercise lasts less than ~30 seconds, from when glucose metabolism will take over. Creatine supplementation allows your body to keep a larger pool of energy in this very-quickly accessible form, leading to better performance in exercises that last less than a minute....Continue reading

22.01.2022 Food scale quick tip: Tare the scale with your fat source on there. Then apply your fat source to your food, and place the container back to check the weight change.... This allows you to much more easily measure out the 5, 10 or 20 grams accurately. This is much easier than trying to weigh peanut butter in a measuring cup, or macadamia oil in a spoon. With your fat sources, always use the scale. it is very hard to eyeball fluids/soft pastes, and the variance in calorie intake is so much more extreme than with things like carrots or tomatoes. The more precise we are, the better control we have, and the better the outcome. If you're after help with your Sports Nutrition and Strength and Conditioning goals, and need someone with a lot of science to back up what they can help you with, message us for a consult, meal-plan or coaching.

20.01.2022 Whats your favourite thing about your gym? A great training environment is crucial to your goals. If you don't want to be somewhere to train, you won't.... For me, its the people at my gym. So many people with so many different goals, but I love watching them train hard and smart, and it inspires me to keep doing my best at what I want to do.

17.01.2022 A good, accurate set of scales is crucial to sports nutrition. The most accurate scales that exist are the ones that you'll actually use. Thats why I use a vintage set of scales with an easy to clean steel bowl, that looks nice enough to leave on the bench all week. That way, I'm never tempted to eyeball my food because im too lazy to get the scales out.... I use a smaller digital one for anything I need to be very accurate with, like butters or oils. Whats your best set of scales, any tips for accuracy or staying consistent?

09.01.2022 Happy holidays everyone. 2020 has been a bad year for a lot of people in regards to livelihoods, health and fitness. After a year like this I know a lot of you will stress about your diets and fitness goals. It is OK to have a nice relax and enjoy some great food tomorrow. It's OK to overeat some calories.... Letting go and relaxing is great for your cortisol levels. The time off using the food scale and the stress of "eating right" might even be good for you. And even if you do overindulge and gain some weight, just remember most of that weight is stored glycogen, which we'll put to great use in the gym in few days. You probably can't gain more than a half kilo of fat over this period. If your scale shows a large jump, don't panic, it's all just water retention, sodium, stored glycogen and your gut contents. Relax and have fun. It's worth it, and you will definitely hit your goals in the new year if you take the next week to relax and recharge yourself. Love, Matt
