25.01.2022 And the day had hardly started !
22.01.2022 It’s a hard life here.... so I was thinking while enjoying watching Ed have a stretch and relax about how important it is for horses to be able to lay down as well as sleep.. particularly in their man made environments...See the following link to discover more https://equitationscience.com//the-dangers-of-sleep-depriv
21.01.2022 This webinar is longish and a bit scientifically dry in places but if you skip through you’ll come across some really interesting discussion... enjoy https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=X-nNiGU_Jmg

21.01.2022 When nobody will play with me....
20.01.2022 Pippa has left and her new friends are already missing her. With the weather over the past few weeks our initial plan of a two week stay ended up being three weeks. In that time we were able to achieve the goals we set and now it’s time to think about the next stage. Great job Cecily and Pippa.. more to come . Pictures Tex and Elliot missing Pippa and a quick selfie before heading off home.

17.01.2022 The skeletal abnormality referred to as Equine Congenital Vertebral Malformation (ECVM) is something worth understanding. It has the potential to be a significant risk to the safety and welfare of both horses and riders alike. Has your horse had a string of physical and or behavioural problems? Maybe hard-to-pinpoint problems you’ve been noticing for months or even years? https://thehorsesback.com/c6-c7-malformation/
13.01.2022 Had a great day coaching at Pegasus’ Funkhana last weekend.. It was great to catch up with riders I’ve previously coached and to meet new ones, their families and connections who were supporting them. Keep a look out for details about next year’s event and put it in your diary .
13.01.2022 Enjoying the cool change... such angels. They’d never get up to any mischief!!
10.01.2022 Pippa is a lovely 6 yr old 15.1hh Gypsy Cob mare. Cecily her owner and I have been working together in starting her under saddle. We developed her ground work and mounted her at Cecily’s place. We’ve now brought her to my place for a few weeks to progress our work with her. I’m really looking forward to the next few weeks working with them both and helping Cecily to achieve her goals with Pippa.
10.01.2022 Anne Muller and the WOW team developed this poster on the principles of training a little while ago. It’s a really great teaching tool, a reminder about the basics, for anyone interacting with horses, and worth revisiting every now and then. The horse welfare site also has an abundance of other information worth looking through... enjoy . https://www.horsewelfare.com//2019/06/E-ISES-WOW-100-poste
10.01.2022 Fabulous morning view after a few unsettled days
10.01.2022 It's that time of the year when i hear so many stories of horses foundering. I've attached a review of chronic laminitis I put together a while ago which maybe of some help to those interested. Most important points are to know your horse and prevent an episode in the first place. Secondly if you think your horse is susceptible know your first aid and have the necessary items available. Use the acronym ACMC 1. Add Ice (AS SOON AS POSSIBLE) 2. Call your Vet. 3. Manage Pain and 4. Confine your horse to prevent further injury.
09.01.2022 How much do you consider your horses perception when interacting with them? This review may help in understanding why it’s worth the effort. https://www.frontiersin.org/articles//fvets.2020.00633/full
06.01.2022 A quick update from Cecily on Pippa’s progression. I think I can safely say that we’re both really happy with how things are going. Cecily is doing a fantastic job and in sight of achieving her goal for Pippa’s visit .
06.01.2022 I think i’m like everyone else in so far as it’s all too easy to leave things go until things start to go wrong or need fixing. Now that we’ve had a bit of a break from the drought its probably the perfect time to start considering what can I do now to prepare for the next one. Water quality, feed, paddock management etc are high on my list. Apart from the hip pocket, potential welfare issues, there’s also a strong link to your horses behaviour. As the environment starts to... impact on their ability to meet needs your normally quiet horse may start changing. All ‘food’ for thought! https://horsesandpeople.com.au/managing-and-feeding-horses/
02.01.2022 Day one of ENSW coach development opportunity at Willinga Park. Demonstrations of coaching high level Dressage combinations, talks by Andrew McLean and Gina Haddad. Andrew’s presentations are always well received and Gina presented current research into what makes a good coach. Gina’s presentation was my pick for the day. Very inciteful!! Note the screen in the photo .
01.01.2022 Day two of ENSW coach development done and dusted. Two sessions...one focused on efforts to re-invigorate para equestrian and encouraging coach engagement. A second session on coaching this time developing the novice horse. A nice session also with a para rider which was lovely to see. The lingering thoughts being how light and effortless riding can be if done right. Great coaching delivered by Rozzie Ryan.
