25.01.2022 How do you pull together a wedding in 24 hours? With sheer determination and an overwhelming love for each other that rises above every other superfluous detail. Helen called me at 9pm and asked... are you free tomorrow? We can't wait till April 11th, the boarders are closing and I'm going to be stuck in NSW. Chris and his family left North Queensland at 7pm and will arrive sometime tomorrow midday. We have our outfits, we have our celebrant, we have our immediate family and... we have each other, it's happening at 5.30pm. From 160 guests and meticulous details down to under 30 guests and the bare essentials it came together, just hours after the boarder closed locking them in QLD together, and a day before the government changed weddings to 5 people maximum attendance. Saying I do after the sun went down, signing the registry in the dark and stealing a kiss by phone light, these two couldn't have been happier. It just goes to show that love really does cast out fear (1 John 4:18). 24.01.2022 Apricot & Apple Pie (Hazelnut GF crumbly crust!) Would you believe me if I told you this pie only had 2 tbs of sugar, leaving the sweet goodness up to the fruit and spice? Such a simple recipe, just the way I like it: Steamed or canned Apricots & Apples, 1/2 tsp all spice & 1 tbs brown sugar combined in pie dish. 1/2 cup milled hazelnuts, 1 cup GF flour, 1 tbs brown sugar 1/4 cup butter & 1 egg combined, fridged and rolled out on top.... It's moments like these that remind me of my purpose as a photographer... after many beautiful years of marriage, 3 adult children and 5 gorgeous grandchildren these two still share that special twinkle... even when faced with the expectation that this would be the last time all the family is together due to Grandpop's health. With our studio always striving to maintain the highest state of cleanliness, with precautions taken after every meeting and session to sanitize surfaces and props.... We will continue to keep up to date with reliable and current advice from the government and continue to provide our services, maintaining the 1.5m distancing recomendation, and continuing the practice of hand hygiene. During newborn sessions, extra due diligence will be taken to minimise baby handling, and the use of gloves. There is a lot of false information floating around, many entertaining memes and a rising fear to self isolate. We can keep our families safe by practicing hand hygiene, distancing ourselves by 1.5m (droplet/saliva and nasal fluid transmission from sneezes and coughs can travel up to 1m) and avoid touching our faces. Stay safe, keep informed and keep connected during these uncertain times. Bless you all, April.

03.01.2022 I love to learn new skills, and I don't think we ever stop learning. Over the last 10 years I've thoroughly enjoyed aquiring my Diploma of Arts, and attending countless workshops with some amazingly talented photographers. As of late, I've been enjoying studying a Bachelors degree in Secondary education, focussing on visual arts and English literature. This degree has me hopping off to practicum this month so when you don't see me around on insta or Facebook, it's because I'm hanging out with some cool kids. It's never too late to learn new tricks my friends. If anyone is interested in developing their photography or photoshop skills, I'd love to teach you.
