21.01.2022 Last week I had the task of performing much needed repairs to Ian. Ian’s little figurine the Park Keeper from the Mary Poppins story was badly damaged whilst on display at the Story Bank. The Blutac holding his feet back on just wasn’t going to cut it, so I lovingly replaced his tootsies and gave him some shiny new paint to bring him back to his former glory. Now Ian can take his place once again in the Cabinet of Curiosities and watch over his beautiful parkland on Cherry Tree Lane. . @storybankmaryborough #marypoppins #thestorybank #miniatureart #3dprinting #miniatures #parkkeeper #cherrytreelane

18.01.2022 You all know I love a good weird twilight zone moment in life, when paths cross for some reason and connections are linked and interwoven. Well, yesterday I was at a lovely friend Sara’s baby shower and all the introductions were being made amongst everyone who didn’t already know each other. I met a young lady, Jessica who was up for the day from Brisbane. Then I was told Oh Jess has a piece of your art hanging on her wall! For a moment I struggled to put the pieces... together, What art? Where did you buy it? Which piece? etc It turned out that a few years ago a lady had bought one of my giraffe pieces for her daughter Jess, when she first moved out of home! And now Jess works for my friend!! AND!!! Incidentally and unbeknownst to me, she has also done work for my husband!! When she saw his name on some documents a while ago she knew it was familiar and then remembered my surname was Spadina, so she excitedly sent Sara a message with the photo and said Are these the same Spadina’s!? But it gets more weird... When I realised which piece of art she had hanging on her wall - a mother giraffe with her baby - I looked down at the gift I was holding and said What? This one!? and right there, on the front of the gift, was that very picture that I had made in to a card THAT morning!!!!!!
18.01.2022 This little guy had an exciting journey across Australia and back again! Over the past few weeks, this charcoal drawing was sent to Sydney from Maryborough, got lost for a week, was found in Perth and then got lost again! Finally arriving nine days after the expected delivery date and sadly not in time for the birthday. The name of the artwork is The Start of the Roar, and signifies new beginnings, inner strength and self awareness. ... After the past few weeks dealing with an incompetent freight company, I can honestly say that there were a lot of inner strength and self awareness moments being called upon!! But the best part is, I made a beautiful new friend and her daughter loves her belated birthday present. Roar!!

14.01.2022 We had a wonderful day yesterday at our Kindness Day Workshop at the Hervey Bay Neighbourhood Centre. Workshop buddy Leigh West of Leelee Creative, and I held two sessions with kids who easily embraced the theme of Kindness and created artworks based on their own interpretation of the meaning of kindness. We started the activities with some skill building, learning to blend pastels and charcoal by drawing a butterfly, the symbol of the Neighbourhood Centre, and then some s...ingle line drawing exercises to loosen up and have fun! The kids were great to work with, each taking home art pieces and also completing a major piece on canvas which will go on display in November. Always a fantastic day when working alongside Leelee. She’s such a treasure. See more
