25.01.2022 The September Comet is here! Have you ever used Zoom? It's possible that in the age of COVID, our face-to-face AGM could be replaced by a virtual one. What do you think? Can the oldies hold their own on video link-up? The 75-year history of APSL is full of great accomplishments, so this could be one of them. Thanks to all our contributors and to our Gympie, Bowen and Gracemere branches for the items they shared this month.

24.01.2022 This month's Comet is full of news from branches, who are very pleased that they are able to have meetings and social functions again. Also - here for your enjoyment, not one but TWO moving poems in remembrance of the fallen soldiers, to commemorate Remembrance Day 2020. You can download a PDF version from our web site, www.apsl.com.au.

07.01.2022 Members of the APSL Management Committee had planned to meet in Brisbane from Tuesday August 4 to August 7 for a number of important meetings. We had not met in Brisbane since early February and as the COVID19 situation appeared to be diminishing several weeks ago we felt that it was about time we checked out our premises (which has seen some more improvements) and it would be an excellent opportunity to meet up with our staff, some new and also welcome some new volunteers t...o our fold. With the State Conference delayed now until early November, plans have been underway to see it come to fruition. However, because of three individuals who defied COVID19 regulations, we have had to cancel travel arrangements which of course have been paid...accommodation which also had been paid for.....in-house meetings at our headquarters at West End, all of which have had to be cancelled. All of the members on the committee have a huge responsibility to our members; our clients of Kurilpa Kitchen and the community and are in that age group which COVID19 is a real and present danger to us. Arrangements have been made now to go back to what we have been doing....meeting by Zoom. Having been hearing on the TV News this morning about the upheaval in South East Queensland, the whole of the State of Queensland has been thrown into a spin because the deliberate deceitful actions of just three people. Deplorable. However, because of modern technology, we will carry on our APSL business in the hope that all Queenslanders will take notice of the Health advice issued so that we all may come out of this era where some people think that they don't have to heed rules and regulations in the State/country in which they live. This appalling behaviour has to stop. Should you be asked to wear masks, wear them. If you are directed into isolation, do it. See more

03.01.2022 COVID-19 is a global health crisis, and if we let it prevent us from delivering life-saving immunization services to children, another global health crisis won’t be far behind. We have to make vaccinations a priority for every child.
