25.01.2022 We hope everyone is managing to keep well in this surreal time. Were especially thinking of our friends in the USA and Europe who are currently hit hard by Coronavirus. While were remote working at the moment with Australias lockdown measures, our lovely mannequins are minding the store. You can see we have plenty of stock, and with our manufacturers in Australia we can keep stock coming in. So, beyond a small delay in getting onsite and the current delays in deliveries, you can continue to head to our online store at https://buff.ly/2wHvMw4 and shop your womens PPE needs. Were also available during business hours to answer any questions via phone or email.

25.01.2022 For your chance to win two garments from Aptos Womens PPE range (your choice), we want to hear and/or see your PPE nightmare story. To enter, simply like our Facebook page and either tell us your story in the comments below, or tag us in a photo of yourself that tells your PPE story. Entries close 31 July 2020. ... Well choose the three best stories that capture the vision of why we started Apto. Well also share some of our stories during the month. Good luck! Please note this is only open to those living within Australia. This promotion is in no way sponsored, endorsed or administered by, or associated with, Facebook.

23.01.2022 You want pockets? We give you pockets! Both our womens Signature and Maternity PPE ranges have multiple pockets that dont get in the way or cause discomfort, and are big enough to fit your stuff!

23.01.2022 Throwback to our initial design exercises for Apto in 2013. Founder and Director Gaye was pregnant with her first daughter, Amelia whos now 6yo.

22.01.2022 We believe women working onsite deserve PPE that's designed fit-for-purpose to be safe and comfortable, not a men's shirt made in pink fabric.

22.01.2022 Shout out to our amazing female colleagues working and smashing down the doors in the sciences.

22.01.2022 We believe women working onsite deserve PPE thats designed fit-for-purpose to be safe and comfortable, not a mens shirt made in pink fabric.

22.01.2022 We have two style options in our Signature Womens Shirt range: a full button shirt and a tab polo (pull over) shirt. Gaye wanted to design the polo shirt because she was tired of worrying about buttons popping open over the chest area. Interestingly, weve heard feedback from some men whod love a similar option, sick of buttons popping open over their stomachs! Dont forget, you have the chance to win two items from our womens PPE range by simply liking our account and telling us your nightmare story wearing mens PPE onsite. Comment on any post before 31 July to enter.

21.01.2022 Thoughts? Its certainly one of the reasons we started Apto, because our experience is we didnt properly fit into smaller mens PPE for onsite work.

21.01.2022 We loved this comment from #womenonsite on our Instagram account (@aptoppe). We couldnt agree more and is why we exist. Let alone that women onsite should be as safe and comfortable as their male counterparts. www.aptoppe.com.au

20.01.2022 Right from design stage, it was important to us to not cut any corners and consider everything we wanted from a PPE range when we were onsite. Back ventilation to help with overheating has been worked into all our shirt designs - Signature and Maternity range.

20.01.2022 Thank you to the amazing @LadyTradiesAndRockingChicks for inviting us to your #IWD2020 event in Albury & for modelling our maternity shirt with your 35 week #hivisbump! The event included inspiring speeches from trailblazing women working in the utilities including @aglenergy, @waternsw, @MDBAuth & @goulburnmurraywater. We hope everyone, including the Year 10 students, walked away empowered of the changes occuring around inclusion and ready to keep smashing down the remaining gender barriers.

19.01.2022 Often diversity and inclusion get lumped together in workplace statements, yet they are different concepts. A workplace can have diversity with employees of different sexes, races, religions and sexuality, yet without policies and culture that embraces and supports all with equal opportunities there is no inclusion. At Apto, we believe inclusion must include safety for all, and that means women not conforming to mens PPE but having their own fit-for-purpose range.

18.01.2022 To all the amazing women , and, importantly, men, across the world doing amazing things to bring gender equality to fruition we salute you. Our founder Gaye has written an article on her reflections of International Womens Day and its 2020 campaign #eachforequal and what has and hasnt changed for women in engineering in her 20+ year career. Read it here https://buff.ly/38y6HAG #internationalwomensday #IWD2020 #IWD #eachforequal

17.01.2022 "On this International Women in Engineering Day, let's not focus on the lack of women engineers in our industry, but, rather, celebrate the fantastic women creating, inspiring and making a difference to our profession. Create magazine profiled 10 influential women in engineering as part of their International Women's Day coverage which is worth a read as well as 10 emerging women leaders in 2020 (see below link). This is but a small handful of women making a difference to eng...ineering. "Everyday, every one of us contributes to the engineering profession and inspires the next generation in our own small way ." 16.01.2022 Those feels when your bum fits into PPE pants because theyre designed for the female body & CURVES

16.01.2022 In this uncertain time, we want to let you know Apto has all the systems in place to continue to provide you with fit-for-purpose womens, hi vis, protective shirts and pants. From the outset we decided to use suppliers and manufacturers based here in Australia - mostly in Melbourne, actually. One of our amazing suppliers is Charles Parsons Fabrics. We use their 100% cotton materials that are double pre-shrunk (for minimal shrinkage), mercerized (for soft hand feel with excellent strength) and wide width (less wastage). We hope you are keeping well, protective and safe.

14.01.2022 SACHI’S NIGHTMARE PPE STORY Sachi is Apto’s Co-ordinator and has a variety of working experiences, one being in a winery where she had to wear PPE. Here’s one of her PPE stories. One of my first jobs was working outside at a large winery. It was a struggle to find hi vis workwear that fit me properly. Often I had to settle for tops with overly long sleeves which meant I faced the challenge of keeping the cuffs of shirts dry. Initially the long sleeves was just uncomfortable,... but when I started working with chemicals for the wine making process, such as acids and caustic soda, it became a real hazard and dangerous. If you have a similar PPE story, we’d love to hear it. Simply comment below and if you’re in Australia and also like our page, you’ll automatically be in the running to win an Apto outfit of your choice (to the value of $300 RRP).

14.01.2022 Weve had the pleasure to attend #wec19aus this week. Its been great to see diversity and inclusion as key topics, including a fabulous presentation by Lydia Gentle AO on some of BHPs inclusion initiatives.

14.01.2022 Who doesnt love a sneaky zip pocket? Not only are our womens PPE pants fit-for-purpose and meet safety requirements, but practical for your onsite needs. Find out more at https://www.aptoppe.com.au/pr/signature-straight-leg-pants/

14.01.2022 We have two womens PPE shirt types in our Signature range. One is full button, the other is a tab (polo) shirt style. Both are designed for the female shape with room to move so you can work safely and comfortably. View our range at https://www.aptoppe.com.au/shop/

13.01.2022 After a short break, were back in business for 2020. We cant wait to grow our business and help more amazing women working onsite in Engineering, Mining, Construction, Infrastructure, Traffic Management and Trades.

13.01.2022 I think we can safely add this to the why diversity matters file! (HT to @sharethedignity who highlighted this @officialqi fact on Twiiter)

12.01.2022 Remembering where Apto began as an Engineers Australias Women in Engineering project for the International Conference of Women Engineers and Scientists back in 2011. From an agenda of raising awareness of the issues around women wearing mens PPE and to show womens PPE could be done, to us continuing the project (with EAs blessing) and designing, manufacturing and selling PPE thats safe and comfortable for women.

12.01.2022 For founder Gaye Francis, providing women with PPE thats fit-for-purpose and safe, and that they can feel confident and comfortable in, is her driving passion for Apto.

11.01.2022 Please welcome Sachi to the Apto team. She has been working with us since February and has been amazing help during COVID while weve had to focus our work on our other business (@R2ADueDiligenceEngineers). When lockdown fully lifts, Sachi is excited to get out on-the-road to meet organisations and showcase our womens PPE range in person. Let us know if youre in Melbourne or regional Vic and would be interested.

08.01.2022 Mens top sizes are measured against neck, chest and waist. Womens top sizes by chest, wasit and hips. So, how can women be expected to properly fit into mens PPE tops?

06.01.2022 Today is the first World Engineering Day for Sustainable Development. You may not know that Apto Founder & Director, Gaye Francis is a Senior Engineer with Bachelor of Engineering (Chemical) from Melbourne Uni, and works in due diligence. Apto was born in 2010, when Gaye and Michelle Shi-Verdaasdonk, as then Deputy Chair & Chair respectively of Engineers Australias National Committee on Women in Engineering, decided to form a working group to address the issue around the la...ck of fit for purpose womens protective workwear. As engineers, they saw a problem and went about fixing it! Today, and with International Womens Day on Sunday,, we celebrate the women kicking down the doors in what still remains a male dominated industry. #worldengday2020 #IWD #IWD2020

06.01.2022 Maybe the most difficult time to conform to a male-centred industry is during pregnancy, and we couldnt design female protective workwear without a maternity range. Shop our hi vis, PPE maternity shirt at https://www.aptoppe.com.au//maternity-full-buttoned-shirt/

05.01.2022 Founder & Director Gaye Francis discussing how Apto PPE was born from a Women in Engineering project & her passion for womens safety & comfort onsite.

05.01.2022 Unique to our PPE Maternity Pant is a comfy elastic waist. The ribbing was specifically chosen for comfort and we designed it wide so women could choose to either wear it up over their pregnant belly or fold it down. The elastic also sits on your hips to prevent the pants falling down under the belly. We also think these are a pretty comfy pant to wear when not pregnant! https://buff.ly/2AxC8QO #womeninengineering #womeninconstruction #womeninstem #womeninmining

04.01.2022 Women "expecting" should expect to be able work onsite safely and confortably with correct fitting PPE. We couldnt have designed a PPE range for women without a maternity range. See our range at https://buff.ly/37p4Zkm

02.01.2022 Apto is a purpose driven business. We care about inclusion and diversity. We care about the safety and protection of all employees/workers. We saw a gap in fit-for-purpose womens PPE and beyond wondering why women werent catered for, we wondered how women could work safely onsite in mens PPE. (We also knew the hazards having to wear mens PPE onsite ourselves out of necessity.) In these uncertain times across the world, we want to send a note of care and safety for everyon...es health and wellbeing. We all have a role to play as a global community with good hygiene and social distancing where possible. But, we also have a role to play as a society to be kind and look out for others - especially the vulnerable. We are mostly an online business so Coronavirus wont affect us too much, at least for now. Also, our manufacturer and suppliers are all based in Australia. In the Melbourne office, we are doing our due diligence (Gayes a due diligence engineer, for those who dont know), and will be working with more technology in our other business to keep ourselves as healthy as possible. We are in this together. There will be light at the end - no matter how long it takes. And, we hope you can keep healthy. Gaye, Sachi & Megan

02.01.2022 The team at Apto will be taking a short break over the Christmas holiday season. Today is our last office day and we will re-open on Monday 6 January. We apologise for any inconvenience and delays if you need to order during this timeframe. Id also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support of our re-launch this year. Every comment saying you need fit-for-purpose PPE gear truly keeps us going on this purpose-driven venture. After much of the year working on the manufacturing side of the business, I am excited for 2020 and working more on empowering women to be safe and comfortable (and leaders) onsite. ~Gaye
