We made a life changing decision and swapped our Gold Coast lifestyle and moved to outback QLD and called Mount Isa home for the next 7 years.... Here we took over operating the Splashez Aquatic Centre - the first time we operated a public facility! What was a scary idea at the time turned into one of the best experiences of our lives!

Swim Australia research unfortunately revealed, Australians are not prioritising learn to swim. 55% of children are not getting lessons, despite over 30% of parents saying someone in their family had a bad experience with water. 28% of parents are teaching their children to swim themselves but this is concerning as 59% of parents rated their swimming skills as basic or below. How can you donate to the Swim it Forward Initiative? Simply go to swimsafer.org.au and click on the Swim It Forward logo to make a tax deductible donation for a swimming lesson.

13.01.2022 Last week Mr Brian was very sick and one of our little swimmers was worried he was in hospital. So today she gave him beautiful get well card. Kids are so thoughtful and this definitely made his day!

12.01.2022 Royal Life Saving Society Australia has just published the new National Swimming and Water Safety Framework. This was developed in partnership with industry organisations, which sets out three key swimming benchmarks for children at the age of 6, 12 and 17 years. Every Australian at the age of 6 years should be able to swim continuously for at least 5 metres, submerge and move through an obstacle, and identify people and actions to help in an aquatic emergency;... Every Australian at the age of 12 years should be able to at least tread water for 2 minutes and swim continuously for 50 metres, rescue a person using a non-swimming rescue technique with non-rigid aids, and perform a survival sequence wearing clothing; 50% of all Australians at the age of 17 years should be able to tread water for 5 minutes, swim continuously for 400 metres, rescue an unconscious person in deep water, and perform a survival sequence wearing heavy clothing. Due to the updates of the QLD Government, we would like to remind all our families of our sign in policy. Contactless sign in is available and preferred when entering the facility.... A full list of QLD Government locations of contact tracing and hot spots will be posted at reception, and updated as per the QLD Government Health Alerts. In the event you have visited a hot spot, have visited a contact tracing location, or have any of the COVID-19 Symptoms (even if mild), you must be tested and cleared before presenting for lessons. In the event a sibling is feeling unwell/showing symptoms of COVID-19 (even if mild), we ask that they do not enter the facility. We can always arrange pick up and drop off from your car. Adhering to and implementing our industry COVIDSafe plan is how we were able to reopen and continue operating our business. Without the support of the Rockhampton community and all the amazing families who swim with us, we wouldnt be able to offer and share all our programs and events with you all. 07.01.2022 We are SUPER EXCITED to let all our families know about the changes coming to our infant swimming program Thanks to the support of the Rocky community, our infant lessons have grown to a point where we are now able to separate our classes into specific age and developmental groups Little Squirts 4-6 months: Free Lessons... Urchins 6 months - 1 year old Jellyfish 1 - 2 years old Starfish 2 - 3 years old Many of our classes in Term 4 have already begun transitioning to these groups, with only a few classes still a mix of age groups Term 1 2021 will see the final transition to these groups With only 15 infant places still available in Term 4 - call us today on 0401 258 842 to secure your place

One of our superstars, Ayce who has ataxic cerebral palsy - has been swimming with us for 4 terms now. When he started Ayce didnt want to get in the pool.... By creating a Ninja Warrior course for him in the pool, Ayce has progressed to swimming independently as well as learning freestyle and backstroke Creating individual learning environments is one of the reasons our private lessons help build and develop swimming independence while learning in a fun environment!

To help with the process, we are assisting with a chocolate fundraising event.... 04.01.2022 2020: A YEAR IN REVIEW WOW who would have predicted what was to come 12 short months ago?!? COVID sent the world into a spin and everyone has been affected in some way or another. In the end it still turned out to be a massive year for our little swim school. Here are some of the best parts:... We kicked of the year with the completion of our term 5 holiday program Bella’s grandparents came to visit from VIC for Brian’s birthday - who knew we wouldn’t see them again this year? Brian received his ASCTA(QLD) Regional Swim Instructor of the Year Award We celebrated our 2nd birthday Our squad swimmers travelled down to Brisbane for state sprints - representing the club for the first time in many years We managed to get out swim school carnival in. We moved our superhero lifesaving week forward a week... But sadly we closed a day after setting up due to COVID Despite our closure we kept busting repainting the facility and undertook some world class PD Coach Brian kept the squad kids busy with dryland and even had to participate in the squads dance off We were awarded the ASSA Community Service Award Thanks to the hail storm we got a brand new roof (version 1.0) After 16 weeks we were allowed to reopen under strict COVID guidelines We got another newer roof (version 2.0) Term 4 was our biggest ever with new families, staff, schools and squad swimmers joining the program (Oh yeah - and the storm won - go Victoria ) Halloween Week was awesome fun Thanks to the support of our amazing families we were crowned CQ’s and Rocky’s Best Swim School Christmas was upon us and we celebrated SwimSafer Week and had a visit from our local 9 news We finished off the term with our annual Macca’s Mini Meet which was our biggest yet To round out the year we have spent our break working hard behind the scenes. Our new slab is is in, all new pipe work is complete and our new electric heater is ready to go (in addition to our new gas heater) and the interior has now been repainted ready for a MASSIVE 2021 A big THANK YOU to everyone for their help and support this year! In a year like no other you have helped our family and business come out the other side of this horrible COVID situation We wish everyone a safe and Happy New Year and cannot wait to see what 2021 brings us all

Every term our swimmers participate in water safety exercises and discuss water safety & water awareness in a variety of environments - such as pools, dams, farms, rivers, the beach etc Both Swim Australia and Australian Swim Schools Association provide yearly events to promote their messages of SwimSafer & SaferSwimming... To help promote water safety within the community we celebrate both these important initiatives every term. Each term we pick a theme which we hope helps add to the excitement of attending lessons - this term is kids tv shows Remember to come dressed in your favorite costume, take a photo and tag us in your uploaded pic. Once again we have more swimmers graduating and moving to dolphin squad. Your names will be added to the growing list on our graduation tree A few swimmers were away this week and your certificates are waiting for you at reception when you attend next week

The good news is it will return in Term 4 Race night is offered to all swimmers in Level 3 - Seals and above and provide a fun yet learning environment to the world of racing! We cant wait for Term 4 and the reintroduction of all our regular programs and services
