22.01.2022 SITE PREPARATION IS KEY - ESPECIALLY ON A SLOPE. If your block has enough space, it may be possible to build up the lower side of the yard to make the pool area level. The most common approach is to build up this area with excavated dirt. The amount of dirt you need to create an acceptable degree of slope will depend on the distance your patio extends into the yard as well as the amount of flat ground outside the patio.... While using dirt from the pool excavation is a common method, you should ensure only acceptable material is used and is compacted properly - don't compromise on this. The purpose of site work is to achieve a degree of slope which: - Drains well, - Can be maintained easily, and - It doesnt conflict with yard elements like swing sets, sheds, etc. With site work, its important to remember youre the one who will live with, care for, and look at the final product. The first step in pool maintenance is understanding the key objectives of pool maintenance: Maintain recommended pool water levels at all times in accordance with pool builder or pool maintenance professionals advice. Ensure all pumping and filtration equipment is maintained in good order and functions in accordance with the manufacturers specifications and operating instructions. The filter system is an important c...onsideration of maintenance and should be washed and rinsed at regular intervals using backwash mode as instructed by the system manufacturer. If salt-chlorinator cells are used, then check regularly to ensure proper operation in accordance with the recommendations of the system manufacturer. Regular removal of debris from the skimmer box is important and so is regular removal of leaves or other foreign matter within the pool itself to minimise organic loading of the pool water and undue influence of staining agents that can impact upon the aesthetic appearance of the pool interior. Ensure automatic pool cleaning appliances are functioning to manufacturer standards and to check that duty cycles are lining up with expectations laid out by manufacturer. Broom and vacuum the pool interior at least at two-week intervals in accordance with the recommended operation of the appliance manufacturer to preclude build-up of organic matter upon the pool interior surface and bacterial growth that can affect pool water hygiene, swimmer safety and the aesthetic appearance of the pool interior. Pool chemistry levels for residential pools are subject to frequency of use and climate conditions and need to be checked and adjusted at least weekly to preserve water hygiene and swimmer comfort. Pool pumps are there to filter dirt and debris and producing chlorine. You need to run pumps long enough to clean and chlorinate the entire pool. Nobody wants a swamp in their backyard!
