25.01.2022 Very pleased with the results of the Medium/ Dark Fawn classes At the Royal Melbourne Colour Show with both our boys Arachello Pound Sterling winning the Adult class and Arachello Iskander the Junior class. Iskander went on to win Reserve Champion male medium Dark Fawn in his first show. He is just 6 months old and acquitted himself well in the ring. Congrats to Surilana Maximilian (Tickenhall) who took out the male championship and then grand championships for medium Dark Fawn. All three of these boys were sired by one of our sires - Surilana Islander.

25.01.2022 Halter and lead training can be an unpredictable experience-Fun, frustrating, rewarding, surprising and enjoyable- sometimes all of those in the one session! We try and enjoy the training as it provides the opportunity to closely interact with each alpaca. We have had to put in a last minute/short course training for six of our 6 month old Juniors in time for the Royal Melbourne Show on Saturday. We got them used to having a halter earlier in the week and yesterday ear tagged... them. We then put the halters on and got them used to responding to the tension in the lead within the pen. When we thought each one had got used to following the lead, we took them in pairs for a short walk along the driveway. This group werent too bad and did not appear to be stressed by the experience. They seemed to be keen to do what we wanted them to do! So we are hoping that they follow the lead in the show ring on the weekend! And dont get too stressed with the show ring inspections by the judges.

24.01.2022 Congratulations to Chakana Blue for their purchase of our solid black female suri Arachello Ebony Isle last month. Ebony at just 6 months won the female Suri Junior Age Championship at the Royal Melbourne in 2016 and placed second in the Junior Black at the AAA Nationals in 2016. Chakana Blue have had tremendous success with the lighter colours, so we are very pleased to have played a part in Julie and Tims journey with black suri. Looking forward to seeing her cria from their breeding strategy!

24.01.2022 Romanie Blacker with Arachello Kiri Lanka Light Fawn male Suri Reserve Champion at the Carousel of Colour Show Goulburn 2016

23.01.2022 We were expecting this one late January/early Feb. The Mother, Moonlight Shadow, showed some signs of labour around that time, but nothing happened. By end of Feb we thought maybe she has had too much food and just over condition (fat!) - she has been with the pregnant and lactating group since early January and getting plenty of feed.We did a controlled spit off test 3 weeks ago- ran and spat- so let her stay with the lactating mothers and cria. Was this a phantom pregnancy?... Was she just teasing us! Oh well we thought- leave her there and what happens happens. Was out having a cup of tea on the veranda about 8.45am yesterday looked across the paddock and noticed a group of the mothers and their cria with their head down in the same area (interested in something I supposed) and another one running to them and did the same thing. All of sudden what looked like a head popped up- hard to see from 150 meters away. Went down to check and, after 385 days, there it was! Even better dark grey and even better a female. Worth the wait! See more

20.01.2022 OMG she has eaten all the vetch from the back of the buggie! No she didnt, but big beautiful Diamond Rain, one of our garden pacas, is now at 350 days gestation. She came around the corner to see if I had some goodies for her! She is keeping us waiting!

19.01.2022 Some lovely solid black Suri alpacas from our Hidden Lake herd will be up for Auction on the 19th May.

19.01.2022 Whittlesea Alpaca Show Very pleased with results at the show, our first time at this show. Lot of public through the sheds and many other show ground activities during the day. Arachello Condor took out the Supreme Suri award. He is just 8 months old and still developing. His fineness, wow lustre, clean locking and consistency across his body was highlighted by the Judge.... Thanks to the convenor Joe Chrtianson-Eaton, Jillian Holmes and all the volunteers who helped run the show and Judge Andrew Munn.

18.01.2022 Australian summer evenings at Arachello farm

17.01.2022 Very pleased with our first cria from our stud male Cedar House Bondi. Looks like he will be getting a few more matings this year. Little Bindi had a tough start - born (pulled out by the vet!) under glare of car headlights at about 7.30 pm at night in the far side of a paddock. Outcomes were uncertain, but both mother and cria came through. Bindi required extra care with a strong chest infection a few days after birth. She was a good pin cushion for a while! 6 months on and... she is looking very nice. She appears to be light fawn, showing good density and lustre. Bondi won many broad ribbons in his show career championships, supremes and a 2nd place Adult Whiteat the 2010 AAA National. He brings the Senator/ Liberace genetics on his sire side and his Dam Tambo Downs Tatiana won a AAA National Show Supreme.

15.01.2022 Great to see our Suri Fleece going with this shipment

15.01.2022 A huge thank you to Matty Delahey for shearing our alpacas. And to helpers Travis and Jayden who did a heap of heavy work sorting out and lifting alpacas, plus ...their husbandry, over two days. Thanks are also due to Di Marshall, my sister Michele, and my daughter Rukshi for all their help. I couldn’t have done it without you! Shearing over for another year and the beautiful fleeces make it all worthwhile. The mild weather over the last few days has been a bonus. The pacas have had their post lockdown haircut but I am still waiting!!! See more

15.01.2022 Our two little light Fawn juniors- Arachello Sandford and Arachello Zena- won the male and female light Fawn colour championships at the Royal Melbourne Colour Show today. Both of them were in the bright lights for the first time and coped really well with being in the spotlight. Maybe they were in shock! Thanks to Dean Rowland (Serialars) for taking and showing Sandford in the ring.... Zena was eventually awarded Grand Champion Light Fawn Suri

14.01.2022 "Baby" Slipper First of our Xmas season cria born about 2-3 weeks premature, bit flat and fragile , down on pasturns and difficulty standing up. Two weeks on he is a real character. Mother (Golden Slipper) and baby, both day dreamers constantly losing each other and then anxiously searching the paddock for each other!... He is still small but developing and fleece showing some good signs.

13.01.2022 Enjoyed the Berwick Ag show, the first show for 2016. It was a pleasant day and a well organised by the show convenors Tim and Julie. Thanks also to all the handlers who helped us on the day. We were very pleased with the results, particularly because they were across a range of classes! Ended up with 6 first places, one second, one third and 3 Championships. We also entered fleeces for the first time and got two firsts and three seconds. As usual forgot to take photos at the event, but posting some of the "exhibits" taken in the paddock the next day.

12.01.2022 Wow, our two day shearing event dragged over 2months this time. With first test having to be abandoned due to heavy rain in early December. 2nd Test in early January called of after the first day's play due to unexpected rain at the wrong time and 3rd test finally completed in early February. A few curve balls to play this season! Thanks to Graham Moore and his shearing team (Total Alpaca Care), and Mikhalia Rollinson shearing under Graham's tutelage. Special thanks to Louise... Lazarus, Lynn Kimber, Tamaryn Kimber, Meagan Gridley, Michele Bell, Dianne Marshall, Julie Blake and Sharnika Blacker who did a tremendous job to keep the show going. Much appreciated !! Also had a visit from a well known Gippsland spinner/ knitter Barbara, who chose 3 Suri long fleeces of different colours for a special project that she was doing. She commented that Suri fleece drapes well!

12.01.2022 Happy with results from AAA National Show in Adelaide. Returned home yesterday with: * 2 first placings (Blue Ribbons) in the Suri Junior Male and female Junior Grey Classes * A Second place (Red Ribbon ) in Suri Junior female Black Class * A Third placing ( White Ribbon) in Junior Medium Dark Fawn * A Third placing ( in conjunction with alpacas from Pacofino and Surilana) in the Suri sires progeny section.... Congratulations to the Suri Supreme winner -Surilana and Huacaya Supreme -Ambersun Had a really good time catching up with breeders from other States (and Vic) and talking things alpaca amongst other issues! Many Thanks to Sarah and Perry and their team for all the hard work in organising and running the 2016 show. Much appreciated! Romanie and Vivian

12.01.2022 Had the cria in to complete routine vaccinations, ADE (and worming for those about to be weaned). It was a good opportunity to check condition and gauge the development and quality of fleece. They also got the experience of more handling. They did not appear to get too stressed with all the close attention! This also provided an opportunity to recheck colours before registering on the database. A couple that were fawn are now light fawn, others that appeared brown are now going black. Another brown is now either black/dark grey or roan! -will have to recheck her next month. One that we though was fawn is going dark mushroom grey and has spots all over. She is from an Inca Treasure (great grandfather) line and most likely an appaloosa. Always interesting and enjoyable!

12.01.2022 Arachello Fleece Harvest for 2016 successfully completed on the weekend! 135 alpacas shorn, vaccinated, ADE, toe nail trimmed, teeth checked/filed. Thanks to shearer Graham Moore and his team.... Special thanks to Carmel Byrne (Tarahill), Marie Fitzgerald and Wendy Lyon (Wenmar) on Saturday and Di Marshall (Tahara) and Michele Simberg (Serenity) on Sunday. Team Lazarus - Louise, Mikhaila and Tahniesha- not only did Saturday, but arose again (from their slumber) and were there on Sunday, as well, at 7.30am to start proceedings. Greatly appreciated all your support and assistance with our fleece harvest 2016.

12.01.2022 Arachello Kiri Lanka parading in the show ring. He was awarded Reserve Champion Light Fawn Suri Male

11.01.2022 Diamond Rain our Lady in waiting finally delivered on Tuesday10th. Didnt have to wait that long (350 days), but she was very big and obviously very uncomfortable over the last few days. Gave birth at the front of the house so we sat down and had a front row view from the verandah. It was a Good birthing event with cria born at 10.30am(!) and cria up and feeding within 30mts. Lovely strong solid white cria as expected. Hoping for a girl from this but got a boy! ... End of day one and he already has a friend to keep each other company. Just realized they have the same grandfather - IlR Pperuvian Amador.

11.01.2022 Some lovely Black Suri alpacas from our Hidden Lake herd will be up for Auction on 19 May.

11.01.2022 We were very pleased with the 2 year regrowth fleece stats of our solid white Certified Stud Male Alabaster Skywalker. They were very similar to his first fleece. Despite the ultrafine fine fleece and long length of fleece his lock structure held up very impressively. Skywalker is a stunning suri male, with an impeccable pedigree. He has an amazingly soft, silky, luxurious handle and superb lustre. He looked fantastic in his first fleece and even better on his second. Skywal...ker grew an immense and gutsy fleece, with exceptional coverage and fineness. Skywalker had a very successful show ring career winning Supreme at Royal Canberra and Wodonga in 2014 and Championships at other shows. His first cria are now on the ground and we are looking forward to see how they develop. Skywalker is available for outside matings.

09.01.2022 Last cria for the summer/autumn season. Somewhat of a traumatic birth for the mother and cria at 7.30pm on Wednesday night. She was born at the far end of the paddock in the glare of car headlights. The ears were the only parts showing. The vet was able to untangle the tucked in head and legs to get her out. Photos taken the next morning. Very pleased that the cria was female! She is the first for us from our Cedar House Bondi. He has some of the older genetics- sire CH Liberace(Senator) and dam Tambo Down Tatiana (a National Show supreme).

09.01.2022 Some lovely solid black Suri alpacas from our Hidden Lake herd will be up for Auction on the 19th of May.

07.01.2022 Enjoyed our very first Charles Ledger Show. Well done Sharon Dawson and all the volunteers on a well organised show and great judging and commentary from Angela Preuss and Jillian Holmes. There was very high quality suri representation and strong competition in the show ring and we were pleased with our results. We took six, mostly new team, of juniors and achieved: 2 * First place Blue Ribbons- Junior Female Medium Fawn and Junior Male Grey... 1* Second Place Red Ribbon - Junior Female Grey 2* Third places White Ribbons- Junior Male Black and Junior Female Black. The Juniors were very puzzled with the long trip and new experiences and were pleased to get back into their very own paddock last night. Thanks to all those who helped us at the Show.

07.01.2022 Arachello Condor Portrait Really pleased with Arachello Condors progress over the past year. He turned 6 months a few days before the AAA National Spectacular in August 2017. We were uncertain how he would fair in coping with his first journey out from the paddock, the travel, the hustle and bustle of the venue and managing in the show ring, but he calmly took everything in his stride. We didnt have any expectations about how he would go and were happy to have him in the r...ing with a formidable line-up of Australias best male juniors (photo)- He is second from the right with Romanie. We were in disbelief when the judges put the red ribbon on him. He is growing out well and fleece continues to develop despite the bad summer paddock conditions. He has been awarded a Reserve championship and two Supremes to add to his second place at the National Spectacular. He turned 12 months a few days before the Berwick Show last weekend, so still developing. He is solid white and Judges say he has very fine fleece and his lock structure is even across his body. He has a very calm, pleasant disposition and easy to handle. Condor has some elite genetics in his pedigree, with ILR Pperuvian Amador and Jolimont Carlos 2 on his dams side (Arachello Aurora Australis) and Surilana Piccolo/ Surilana Macusani Miss on his sires side (Surilana Missile).

06.01.2022 Birds of a feather flock together ! Dad Surilana Missile ET (centre) with his two sons Arachello White Diamond (Solid White) and Arachello Sirius (solid white) surveying the scenery. All three have got excellent return fleece with great density and good fleece length at 10 months after shearing. Both the sons have very fine, very lustrous, soft silky fleece.

06.01.2022 Great first day at the Royal Melbourne Show. Huge numbers visiting and showing a lot of interest in the alpacas. The alpaca product trade stalls were doing a roaring trade.

06.01.2022 Well another maiden who just could not wait till the cool change arrived! Romanie went to do her checking round at 9am and 36degC and there was Moon Glow in the throes of delivering the placenta. Romanie looks around and saw the cria alert and in pushed position a little distance away. Then suddenly realises that Harper's cria is in the next paddock and Harper in a frenzied state. Not sure how she had got through the ring lock and how long she had been out! A lot of foxes around so we were quite relieved that she was safe. Anyway the cria was retrieved and reunited with the mother. The dam, Moon Glow, is a lovely silver grey and the sire is Canchones Syracuse ET. The result - in the photos!

05.01.2022 Interesting article about alpaca fleece and its used

04.01.2022 Very pleased to open the Royal Melbourne Colour show with a win in the Suri Black Junior Female. Arachello Hortense has just turned six months and has developed well for her age. Great show so far and good crowds interested in Alpacas

04.01.2022 Great start to the birthing season. Colour results can always surprise, but this time brown sire and brown dam gives a brown cria! Birth about 7.00am. Up and about and feeding within an hour. Good length of fleece and nice locking. Also Very pleased the cria was female!

02.01.2022 Some of the activity and tranquility of the Arachello- Coloured Suri Alpaca Farm- taken yesterday

02.01.2022 Arachello Condor awarded Supreme Suri at 2018 Berwick Show. We were very pleased with all our results at Berwick Show and with Arachello Condor being awarded Supreme Suri. Thanks to The Show organisers Linda and Nick Holdsworth and all the other volunteers who made the show run smoothly. Thanks also to the Show Sponsors including Chakana Blue, the Supreme Suri Sponsor. The great work by the Judges- Jo Ham (Halter) and Bronwyn Munn (Fleece) also needs to be acknowledged.... Special thanks to Tamryn, Leah Burnett and Rachel ( all Youth Paraders) who did an excellent job leading and presenting our Suri in the Show Ring through all the classes, Championships, Best of Colour and Supreme lineup. Tamryn Kimber, who is only 11 years old, led Arachello Condor in the Supreme Lineup.
