25.01.2022 Welcome to Diabetes awareness month! Do you know the 4Ts?? Every year 640 children and adults are admitted to hospital because the early signs of type 1 diabetes are missed. If not diagnosed in time, type 1 diabetes can be fatal.... Tired unexplained or excessive fatigue Thirsty a thirst that can’t be quenched Thinner sudden or unexplained weight loss Toilet going to the toilet a lot It takes just a minute to learn. If you see the signs, don’t waste time and see you doctor immediately.

22.01.2022 Today is White Ribbon Day and it is a chance for the Australian community to come together and say no to men’s violence against women. Together, we will end men's violence against women and children in our community.... #whiteribbonday

17.01.2022 Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, including melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers. Every year in Australia skin cancers account for around 80% of all newly diagnosed cancers. Around 2000 people die from this disease every year. However, more than 95% of skin cancer cases are caused by unprotected exposure to UV radiation from the sun, meaning it is a nearly entirely preventable cancer. Remember to Slip, Slop, Slap!!

14.01.2022 NAIDOC (National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee) Week from 8-15 November celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC Week is celebrated by all Australians and is a great opportunity to learn more about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. The theme this year is Always Was, Always Will Be, which recognises that First Nations people have occupied and cared for this continent for over 65,000 years. #NAIDOC2020

14.01.2022 As part of Australian Food Safety Week we at Arana Hills Medical Centre urge local consumers to take food poisoning seriously. Food poisoning is more than a minor stomach upset, it can be life threatening especially for the elderly, pregnant women and their unborn babies and people with compromised immune systems. This year for Australian Food Safety Week 2020 we will be building upon the good consumer behaviour established during the COVID-19 pandemic so we can continue to reduce the amount of foodborne disease.

12.01.2022 Tomorrow is the start of the Movember (formerly known as November) and for the last few years this is when brave and selfless men from all over the world grow a moustache (and the brave women support them..), all to raise awareness and funds for men's health - specifically prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Are you brave enough to grow yours??

11.01.2022 Men tend to neglect their health more than women and are far less likely to make an appointment for a general check up. Currently in Australia: 4 times more men under 65 die from more heart disease than women the same age. 1 in 3 men die of cancer compared with 1 in 4 women. 3 in 4 suicides are men (with 6 men and 2 women dying each day on average).... Is it time for your check up?

11.01.2022 As we head in to our Queensland summer snakes are most definitely on the move! Make sure you know what to do in the event someone is bitten
