22.01.2022 On Sunday 2 August the Victorian Government declared a state of disaster and announced that regional Victoria will head into Stage Three restrictions from 11.59pm Wednesday 5 August. In line with these latest government restrictions, we will be making the necessary amendments to our programs and services from Thursday 6 August. We are currently working through the implications of the announcement and will communicate with the families and members of our programs directly wi...th further information. We can confirm that from Monday 3 to Wednesday 5 August, YMCA Childrens Programs remain open as per normal operating times and will be implementing the most recent guidelines on face coverings. We will provide further information as new information comes to light.

16.01.2022 Across the Y, weve been collaborating and sharing ideas to keep families active and connected during the Covid pandemic. Our OSHC services have been operational over the last few months, supporting families with care and offering interesting and educational activities for children. 16.01.2022 KINDERGARTEN and LONG DAY CARE SERVICES In line with the State Governments Stage 3 restrictions coming into effect at 11.59pm on the 5th August 2020, all our kindergarten and long day services located in Regional Victoria will continue to operate as usual, while implementing current COVIDSafe procedures. The safety of those in our programs and services, our staff and the wider communities in which we operate is always our first priority. We continue to monitor the situation closely from recognised authorities in our service areas and at a state and national government level and ensure that our practices follow the most recent guidelines.

09.01.2022 This week at the Ys Ararat800 Vacation Care the children had a fun filled week. Monday saw them getting around on their bikes and scooters. Tuesday the children had a taste of Spain, trying Spanish omelette, candied pumpkin, churros and Day of the Dead cookies decorated as skeletons and they decorated Dia Los Muertos themed masks. "If I had to give the food points, I would give it a 10/10" was a comment from one of our children. The children engaged in dressing up as their favourite movie character on Wednesday, everyone looked amazing. Thursday we upcycled our cardboard to make a flower pot which the children decorated and then got to plant some pansys in to take home. Friday was craft day. We made sock bunnies and tried our hand at some origami, making boats,frogs and puppy faces.

07.01.2022 Well, thats a wrap! Our school holiday programs concluded two weeks of activities today. Despite having to modify the program and stay onsite, our amazing OSHC staff used their enthusiasm, creativity and commitment to keep children engaged, active and having loads of fun even in this cold weather! A big thank you to all our Outside School Hours Care teams and the children who participated. Our Before and After School Programs will resume in Ballarat, Ararat and Portland next week. #theYkids

07.01.2022 Our Outside School Hours Services really enjoyed Children’s Week this year, celebrating the theme of recognising the right of all children to choose their own friends and safely connect with others. (Article 15 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child). Children had lots of fun participating in the varied activities that took place at our 8 OSHC venues throughout the week. Children at Ararat OSHC created a special time capsule capturing images and ideas of ...what friendship means to them today which included thoughts centred around trust, sharing, learning together, safety, reliability and being happy. At Portland After School Care, conversations about friendship resulted in a group poster, with children considering the qualities of good friends and what made them a good friend. Their words were written on coloured shapes of their hands and displayed. #theYkids #ChildrensWeek2020
