19.01.2022 **This warning is no longer current. Please check the QFES Facebook page for updated information.** LEAVE NOW: Tarome bushfire as at 4.30am Sat 9 Nov Bushfire w...arning level: WATCH AND ACT Queensland Fire and Emergency Services (QFES) advises there is a bushfire in Tarome and conditions are getting worse. Follow your bushfire survival plan now. If you do not have a plan, your safest option is to leave now if it is clear to do so. If you are not in the area, do not return, as conditions are too dangerous. Currently as at 4.30am Saturday 9 November, a large unpredictable fire is burning on the western side of Tarome Road. It is travelling in a northerly direction towards Merlehan Road. The fire could have a significant impact on the community and surrounding properties. Fire crews are working to contain the fire but firefighters may not be able to protect every property. You should not expect a firefighter at your door. Power, water, and mobile phone service may be lost. People in the area will be affected by smoke, which will reduce visibility and air quality. Call Triple Zero (000) immediately if you believe you are under threat. WHAT YOU SHOULD DO: Listen to your local radio station or visit the Rural Fire Service (RFS) website for regular updates. Put on protective clothing (e.g., a long-sleeved cotton shirt, boots with thick soles). Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. If you are leaving: Secure your pets for safe transport. Check for road closures and then advise family and friends of your intended travel route. Take your important documents and essential items (e.g., passports, birth certificates, prescription medication, food and water, and protective clothing) when you leave. Drive with caution in low visibility conditions. If you are unable to leave: Bring pets inside; restrain them with a leash, a cage, or inside a secure room; and provide them with plenty of water. Move flammable materials such as doormats, wheelie bins, and outdoor furniture away from your house. Fill containers such as your bath, sinks, and buckets with water so you have access to drinking water and firefighting water. Close windows and doors, sealing the gaps under doors and screens with wet towels to keep smoke out of the house. If you suffer from a respiratory condition, keep your medication close by. KEEP UP TO DATE BY: Following QFES on Facebook (@QldFireandEmergencyServices) and Twitter (@QldFES) Staying tuned to your local radio station. Find your local ABC radio station at https://radio.abc.net.au/help/offline and your local commercial radio station at http://www.commercialradio.com.au/find-a-station/queensland; Visiting the Rural Fire Service (RFS) website at www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au/map FURTHER INFORMATION: For bushfire preparation tips, visit the RFS website: www.ruralfire.qld.gov.au/BushFire_Safety For information about road closures, call 13 19 40 or visit www.qldtraffic.qld.gov.au The next update will be provided by 6.30am or if the situation changes.

18.01.2022 Good morning, loyal foodies! Scenic Rim Eat Local Week (including the Winter Harvest Festival) has been officially cancelled for 2020, following ongoing advice ...from the Australian Government and Queensland Health authorities regarding mass gatherings, non-essential travel and COVID-19. Naturally, we're all disappointed that this cancellation must happen. But it is the right decision to put the health and safety of our visitors, producers, tourism operators and the wider community first. We would like to thank our sponsors, event organisers, food ambassadors, stallholders and the broader Scenic Rim Eat Local Week family for your support and understanding. In these tough and constantly changing times, we can at least give ourselves something to look forward to by marking next year's Eat Local Week in our diaries for 26 June to 4 July, 2021. In the meantime now, more than ever, is the time to make the most of the abundant local Scenic Rim food still being produced right on our doorstep. All of us have the opportunity to support our local producers and food businesses as they adapt to give us safe access to fresh, seasonal, high quality produce. We as a team continue to look for innovative ways to support our region through this time. A full list of participants and sponsors who had committed to be part of 2020 events has been published on our Scenic Rim Eat Local Week website so you can show your support for those businesses affected now, and into the future: https://www.eatlocalweek.com.au/eat-local-week-2020-partic/ See our full statement, and the count down to Eat Local Week 2021 here: https://www.eatlocalweek.com.au/ Be sure to subscribe so you can be the first to know about opportunities to Eat Local every day of the year! https://www.eatlocalweek.com.au/ Visit Scenic Rim Scenic Rim Regional Council Visit Brisbane Visit Queensland, Australia Australia.com
