15.01.2022 Courier-Mail Pint-sized mare Archer’s Paradox won for the seventh time and took her earnings to $375,000 after reverting to front-running ways on Saturday. The David Murphy-trained five-year-old was slowly away at Eagle Farm last time out, but staged a huge performance to run fourth, with many believing she would have won had she found clear running in the straight. But Murphy wasn’t tempted to try similarly quiet tactics around Doomben and Corey Bayliss bounced her out of t...he machines first, found the rail and that’s where she stayed. If she can find the fence in front, she’s hard to catch, Murphy said. The trainer gave a special mention to farrier Steve Crosbie, who has worked many hours getting Archer’s Paradox’s troublesome feet into racing trim. She’s got issues with them and Steve has done a terrific job getting her right, Murphy said. Connections paid just $18,000 for Archer’s Paradox at the 2017 Gold Coast March Yearling Sale after Murphy had previously had success with the family. She was only little but she was jumping around at the sales. I thought ‘I don’t know how far she will go, but she will run quick.’ So we picked her up, Murphy said. If she can find the fence in front, she’s hard to catch, Murphy said.
