19.01.2022 Sensai Eats Two Pebbles Sensai’s owners came is as they were concerned that he had eaten a pebble. On examination Dr Lucinda could very clearly feel a peb...ble in Sensai’s abdomen so proceeded with x-rays to determine where the pebble was located. The x-rays showed that there were actually 2 pebbles that Sensai has ingested! The pebbles had to be surgically removed as the x-ray’s identified that they were too large to pass unassisted. Once Sensai was carefully anaethetised, we began surgery and noticed that one of the pebbles had perforated his stomach and was sitting in the abdomen. The stomach had already started to heal itself and had closed over. The other pebble was removed from inside the stomach, the abdomen was thoroughly flushed and closed up. Sensai recovered at home and returned for a recheck two weeks later. The surgical site healing well. Easy to digest food is being offered to get him eating again and help him gain some weight back. We’re confident that Sensai will make a strong and full recovery provided he doesn’t decide to snack on any more pebbles. Clinic: Murdoch www.unusualpetvets.com.au

01.01.2022 RESCUE : NEMO nemo was given to me yesterday by a friend to help save and mind whilst she now sets up her tank properly as she was told by the petshop wrong information and that axolotls are easier than goldfish. THIS IS NOT TRUE. Both animals need a CYCLED tank. A cycled tank takes between 6-10 weeks. Sometimes less sometimes more. Please purchase a freshwater test kit to test and check regularly ... They can not be on gravel, they must be on bare bottom, or on fine sand, use fake grass, tiles anything that they will not eat that will impact them! He also has parasites, which is heartbreaking. Starting treatment of Prazipro tomorrow. Pray for little nemo! See more
