ETH Zurich researchers from the group of Philippe Block now use the concept of knitted fabric ...in concrete construction: KnitCandela is a four-ton, spiral concrete shell whose formwork and structure consists solely of a textile knitted at the touch of a button. The construction is on display in an exhibition by Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) in Mexico City. KnitCandela is a collaboration of the Block Research Group with Zaha Hadid Architects Computation and Design Group and Architecture Extrapolated.
