11.01.2022 UPDATE ON ARCHWAY 1 - Dear Archway 1 Supporters, Hello friends of Archway 1 Theatre Company & Art Studio, it’s been a little while since our last update. Thank you for the many phone calls, messages of support and enquiries as to how we all are and what is the latest update. We are grateful that so many people believe in us and what Archway 1 is about. You supported what you all believed was a positive asset to our Sydney community and something that should be celebrated as a...n important cultural aspect of our city that should have been retained, preserved and supported but unfortunately, the City of Sydney CEO Monica Barone and Mayor Clover Moore, don’t agree with you. It took us the last couple of months since our lockout from the space, of which all our belongings are still inside the Archway, to assess our priorities. Do we stay in a city that doesn’t support us? In an area whose coalition groups are a conservative demographic, or a city whose council has suspect practices and lacks procedural fairness and whose counselors are governed by internal politicking and intimidation, rather than being the pillars of their respective communities? Or do we stop our operations all together and move onto bigger, less property dependent projects? We do know one thing for sure, we miss the community very much, all the many people we met along the way, the people who gave of their time, of their patronage, of their resources, of their talent and of their activism. We miss the dogs and their fun loving owners. We really miss making theatre, we miss making art and giving opportunities to creatives to shine. We miss talking to all the friends of Archway 1. Archway 1 has been our greatest achievement to date, we are immensely proud of it and it’s been a huge community effort. 02.01.2022 Dear Archway 1 Theatre Company friends, here is OUR response to City of Sydney council Resolution regarding Archway 1. Archway 1's response is a very comprehensive, as it is important for the public to hear our side, as we have always been and will remain completely truthful and transparent about our tenure and our operations at Archway 1 and our dealings with the City council. We thank you very much for your support, your letters, signatures, emails, phone calls, tweets and... Facebook posts. It has been a very distressing time for staff, it's founders and Archway 1 Friends. All our equipment and items are still inside the Archway and we hope to resolve this issue soon and with our supporters help.
