17.01.2022 | Maurice Longbottom (Rugby 7s) Maurice Longbottom, also born and bred in La Perouse is a proud Indigenous man and current Australian Rugby 7s representative. ... Longbottom rose through the junior ranks at South Sydney Rabbitohs but was dismissed as too small for senior rugby league, the same club his famous uncle Bruce played for in the 1980s. Longbottom was spotted playing Rugby 7s for the Lloyd McDermott Rugby Development squad while working as a carpenter and playing local rugby league for the Coogee Wombats. Since making his debut in 2017, Longbottom has played in 9 International 7s tournaments and is also playing for community partner Randwick Rugby Club in the Shute Shield Competition Rugby Australia NSW Rugby

He captained Cricket Australia’s 2018 Aboriginal XI in a commemorative tour of the UK and has become a leading spokesperson on Indigenous issues in cricket. Christian has played for 16 International T/20 cricket franchises currently playing for the Sydney Sixers. ... Dan’s connection to UNSW is that he has been a regular representative of UNSW Cricket Club, being the clubs third international player for Australia. Christian first played for UNSWCC as a 14 year old in 1997 and played 10 seasons for the club before taking on a professional contract for South Australia. When signing for the Sydney Sixers in 2020, Christian made a return to playing for ‘the bees’ in the Sydney Premier T20 competition.
