20.01.2022 Hello Switchers Still closed. The Switchroom hopes you are all well and singing in the shower or practicing your soliloquies into the mirror. We will be back soon. Meanwhile, arc Yinnar has been successful with it's submission to the LVA for the redevelopment and we've already started work. I've posted the media release for you. It's a great read. But don't worry, the Switchroom won't be touched and it will still be the same magnificent venue for the yartz. Looking forward to seeing you all soon. If you would like to assist in any way with "arc Yinnar Building Redevelopment 2020" as we like to call it, send us an email

10.01.2022 RAGA SHAMBHALA BRIDGING THE HIMALAYAS Celebrated international musicians Tenzin Choegyal (Tibet), Taro Terahara and Ayako Ikeda (Japan) are excited to announce their upcoming Raga Shambhala tour, presenting a total of 19 concerts over 4 weeks throughout Tasmania, Victoria and New South Wales. Kicking off on January 11th, Raga Shambhala offers a magical musical fusion of joyful Tibetan song with glorious Indian flute. The sounds of bansuri and tabla blend seamlessly with Te...nzin’s flute, dranyen and vocal offerings in an interplay which is sensitive and beautifully rendered. Tenzin is one of a handful of artists keeping Tibet’s music alive in the freedom of exile. He is a master of traditional Tibetan instruments the lingbu (bamboo flute) and the dranyen (3-stringed lute) but is best known for his extraordinary vocal ability and his mastery of droklu, the nomadic music of his parents. Now a well-established artist, composer, activist and cultural ambassador, he proudly continues this unbroken nomadic lineage. Tenzin has become a favourite in the world music scene and is held in high esteem by other performers from all genres. His cantering rhythms, soaring vocals and exquisite flute solos have enchanted audiences around the globe, including concerts at Carnegie Hall, New York with Phillip Glass, Laurie Anderson and Patti Smith. Accomplished bansuri master Taro Terahara and tabla player Ayako Ikeda are leaders in the thriving and highly competitive Indian classical music scene in Japan. The bansuri (Indian flute) beautifully captures the sound of the air, the mountains and the uplifting devotional mood of Krishna, as their music soars, swoops and transports listeners to realms of pure sound, engaging the mind and touching the heart. The combination of three such powerfully expressive musicians makes this an unforgettable and moving experience for audiences of all ages.

05.01.2022 Hello Switchroomers This Thursday's Chaika gig has been cancelled. The following message is from Emily-Rose. Please read it Thank you so much for pre-purchasing tickets for our Yinnar show this Thursday. Unfortunately due to the COVID-19 scare and regulations, most of our festivals and concerts have been cancelled and we are going to be returning to Sydney early and trying to figure out how to exist in this new world where all our gigs have been cancelled for the next 3 mon...ths at least. We made the decision to cancel Yinnar due to low ticket sales and the unknown progression of possible regulations by this Thursday. We will of course be extending a refund to anyone who would like one. Otherwise we can also exchange the ticket for some of our merchandise which we can send you (CDs, download codes and songbooks). This is unprecedented and very difficult times with all our fellow musicians out of work suddenly. If anyone would like to exchange their ticket for merchandise then we would of course very much appreciate this. Please stay healthy and well, Emily-Rose from Chaika
