23.01.2022 -- Lowering on Guide Mode Workshop, Final LIVE Event -- Ah, the ever elusive ATC belay devices with guide mode. What is it, even? They’re basically belay devices that you can yes, belay with on top-rope or lead, and double up as a setup you can use directly onto the anchor (belaying from the top of a climb). It is super versatile as you can set-it up for a double rope abseil, single rope abseil, or when you have to ascend the rope. It is most commonly used when you’re ...trad climbing and multi-pitch climbing. We must say though, that an important skill to learn when using belay devices with guide mode is - lowering. A topic rarely gets talked about unless you take up a multi-pitch climbing course, a Single Pitch Trad course or a climbing rescue course. For good reason, of course. If set-up incorrectly it can result in .. yup. Catastrophic situations which you don’t ever want to be in. So come join us and @womenuprisingaus for the finale of our Shorthand Version of Essential Climbing Skills Series which will thus end with a session on how to use a belay device on guide mode, and to lower safely. See you Tuesday, 8th July @ 5:30pm! Together #forwhatstocome #arcteryxausnz See more

06.01.2022 The artwork for our first store window at Chadstone has been created by local artist George Rose using shapes that reference Melbourne’s geography, flora and fauna. A topography section of Mount Cooper (Melbourne’s tallest mountain) and Port Phillip Bay form the base. Flora and fauna including the Ringtail Possum, Richards Pipit, Golden Headed Cisticola, Large Forrest Bat, Purple Crowned Lorikeet and the White’s Skink sit amongst Acaia and Gum leaves with blossoms all intertwined, as a nod to the text which reads ‘Together for what’s to come’. George Rose is a Melbourne-based artist and spends most of her time climbing up ladders and painting murals. Since abandoning her formal design training, George has pursued a multidisciplinary art practice using colour, gradients and type to spread her message.

05.01.2022 For this Do Right Day we are partnering with Victoria National Parks Association, a charity that stands up for nature. Tomorrow, the 23rd of July, we will be donating 50% of our sales from our Australian online store to support their objective: creating 60,000 hectares of new national parks to protect forests in Victoria’s central west including the Wombat, Wellsford, Pyrenees Ranges, and Mount Cole forests. Sadly, more than 1.4 million hectares of Victoria’s landscapes... were burnt over Summer. Protecting our remaining unburnt forest is, therefore, now more important than ever. Australia’s largest gliding mammal, the Greater Glider, depends on these forests for survival. Some of their most significant remaining forest habitats are in the Wombat Forest, in central western Victoria. There are 380 other threatened species that rely on the forests of Victoria’s central west, too. Read more about it here: https://bit.ly/32HI3yn

05.01.2022 Mental Health Day is tomorrow October 10th, and the Arc’teryx family is committing to taking actions this weekend on limiting screen time and increasing our time outside, living in the present and connecting to nature. Being outside is life-affirming and health-building. It enhances so many aspects of our emotional, neurological and physical systems at a time when they are being sorely challenged by circumstances. We can benefit at all doses, from the big climbs and the blis...sful full-forest immersion to the smallest patches of urban biota." - @florence999 On the Bird Blog, Florence Williams shares more on her perspective and research on the importance of experiencing nature in a time that has been filled with peak 'indooritis' (yes, that's a word now). Visit here to read the full story: https://blog.arcteryx.com/finding-ourselves-in-nature/ #arcteryxausnz #OuterPeace

03.01.2022 -- Knothing But Knots, Live Event -- Featuring our Advanced Knots session! Ever wondered how you’d use your rope to make an anchor out of a very large, strong tree?
