17.01.2022 Central Goldfields Shire Community Grants are open!! CGS Community grants are aimed to provide financial support to projects and events that offer community benefits to the Shire. Grants from $500 and over are available to a wide range of community-based organisations. *only not-for-profit organisations and community groups will be considered for funding. ABN's are required. If you are interested in learning more make sure to check out CGS's live streamed information session... tomorrow (Wednesday) at 1pm. The session will be presented by General Manager Community Wellbeing Martin Collins and Pandemic Recovery Community Development Officer James Rigby and will be a great opportunity to ask any questions you may have about your eligibility to apply. The Community Philanthropy awards recognises impact achieved through place-based, community-led philanthropy. This award is aimed at initiatives designed to address your community’s current or emerging priority issue/s to create positive change and community empowerment. SELECTION CRITERIA ... Nominations will be assessed on the below criteria: Addresses place-based challenges and achieve great outcomes for that place Ability to leverage and unlock community assets beyond granting (social capital, research etc) Demonstrated value-adding through convening power, i.e. as a conduit to local knowledge and need Collaboration and cross-sector partnership Specify the three things that make this a knockout nomination. This Award is for activity occurring in the last five years (2015-2019) including design, funding and impact.

01.01.2022 Avoca Community Bank & Maryborough Branches & St Arnaud Agency Build 100 Grants are OPEN! Aimed at community groups and not-for-profit organisations in the Avoca, Maryborough and St Arnaud area and with a total funding pool of $100,000 the Build 100 grants are aimed at projects that contribute to building stronger, more connected and vibrant communities. Applications close Friday 16th October **IMPORTANT INFORMATION** ... What type of projects can be funded by the Foundation? A. The Foundation can only provide funding for projects that have a charitable purpose. This means they provide a benefit to the wider community. Traditionally, charitable projects fit into one of five main categories:a. The relief of poverty b. The relief of sickness and distress c. The advancement of education d. The advancement of religion e. Other purposes beneficial to community's *It’s important to note the advancement of sport, recreation and social activities is not considered a charitable activity by the ATO. Therefore, applications from sporting organisations need to clearly demonstrate a benefit to the wider community and should clearly indicate which other local organisations are involved Q Can the Foundation fund a sporting club? A. The advancement of sport is not considered a charitable activity by the ATO. However, this does not restrict not-for-profit sporting clubs from applying for funding for projects that are non-sporting or clearly demonstrate a benefit to the wider community and fit within one of the five charitable categories listed above. Examples of charitable projects often championed by sporting groups include building and maintaining multipurpose public facilities, all-abilities programs, health promotion and leadership education.
