25.01.2022 Busy day at the office!

25.01.2022 The last couple of weeks #Ardno have been competing in the local shows. We attended the Mount Gambier, Penola and Millicent shows. Mount Gambier saw Ardno Marinda m140 sashed Grand champion Hereford female. Penola saw Ardno Oyster m124 win the TDC heifer classic for grand champion British female. The next day she also was sashed junior champion British female. Then to top it off the two heifers came first in the all breeds pair of heifers at Millicent. It sure has been a great few weeks. #ardno #herefords

24.01.2022 Position Vacant - Stockperson Ardno Herefords is currently seeking an experienced and reliable Stockperson with a passion for cattle to join the Ardno team. Our operation is purely beef with a paddock-to-plate focus on supplying our award-winning restaurant ‘The Barn’ (steakhouse and function centre). Comprising 150 stud females and 1100 commercial breeders, our properties are located across four sites which include Mt Gambier, Penola, Nelson and Nene Valley.... The successful candidate will be a self-motivated team player, with strong knowledge, familiarity and experience within the livestock industry, including cattle handling and husbandry, and knowledge of daily farming operations and procedures. General tractor operating skills essential. Applicants will be assessed on their suitability and must have: ability to work in a team environment, good time management skills and communication, vehicle & property maintenance experience, as well as a current driver’s licence. Note: HR licence is required (or a willingness to obtain) Accommodation can be provided, while a salary and other benefits will be negotiated with the successful candidate to match experience and potential. 23.01.2022 Last Friday, our heifers and steers from our black baldy program sold on AuctionsPlus. We are thrilled to have topped the sale in the following 4 categories. Heifers under 200kg, coming back at 732c/kg. Heifers 200 - 280kg, returning 660c/kg. Steers under 200kg, making 769c/kg. Steers 200 - 280kg, urning 652c/kg.... 21.01.2022 Recently, we have been flat out in isolation doing some seed preparation. Just in time for a quick germination from this great drop of rain we have good the paddocks prepared for seeding. Here’s a short video from the past week.

10.01.2022 Every year the journey to the Royal Adelaide starts months ahead for those making the leap into the show ring. Practicing parading the livestock to cleaning and clipping takes a lot of work. It is the first time at the show for Ardno, and the team has been spending the week getting the cattle ready for the big event. Harry is having a short break before judging on Friday.
