05.01.2022 The first week of August is Dental Health Week. Its aim is to educate all of us about the importance of maintaining good oral health. This year's focus is on "How much sugar is hiding in your trolley?" Did you know, research shows that 48.7% of Australian adults consume too much added sugar? Two major health effects of sugar overconsumption are dental decay and unhealthy weight gain. ... The World Health Organisation recommends a maximum of six teaspoons of sugar per day. Did you know that a glass of juice and a bowl of cereal for breakfast can equal 6 or more teaspoons of sugar? One thing we can do is check the Nutrition Information on the side of our grocery packaging and choose food that has 15 grams of sugar or less per 100 grams. Should we choose to treat ourselves with food high in sugar e.g. chocolate, let us try to limit our portion size. Your teeth will thank you for it. If you appreciate posts like this, don't forget to like the post as such feedback would encourage us to put up more content like these.
