25.01.2022 Theres been a range of activities happening throughout the school this week for National Science Week. Students have looked at how light reflects, refracts and absorbs, theyve tested UV lights, made periscopes, had fun with gravity and even tested their structural engineering skills
24.01.2022 Congratulations to Heidi Palmer (Yr4) and Tate Jahn (Yr4) who represented Ardross PS in the WA State Schools Cross Country Championships held today at Mt Claremont. After a tough 2km race, Heidi placed 30th out of 285 girls and Tate placed 15th out of 264 boys which has earned him an invitation to participate in the 2021 State Team selection event next year. Outstanding efforts Heidi & Tate!!!

23.01.2022 Hilarious Hair Day - Friday 14th August! Its time to get those crazy wigs and hair gel out to join in the fun of Hilarious Hair Day! This is not a fundraising venture, merely just a day to have some fun and to celebrate learning at Ardross PS. Wear a crazy wig or hairstyle to school (washable colours are acceptable but must be done at home. NO aerosols or dyes are permitted at school).
23.01.2022 Our Room 13 Yr 1 students welcomed dads, uncles & grandparents into their class today to build kites as part of their Fathers Day activities. After a little fine tuning, the kites were put to the test with some flying fun on the oval.
22.01.2022 Ardross PS was strongly represented today in Division 1 at the South Metro Girls Multisport Carnival held in Success. Our Yr6 girls finished the day with an even win/loss record in Cricket and Netball, however were undefeated in AFL.....resulting in the girls finishing top of the AFL ladder and taking home the winners shield Awesome effort girls!
22.01.2022 Tomorrow is Lapathon! Please ensure your child has a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water for the afternoon as it’s going to be warm. All parents are welcome to attend. Lapathon will start at 1.10pm.

21.01.2022 Congratulations to Room 9 Year 2 on a wonderful and colourful assembly item this afternoon. So much effort had gone into making their own sun hats in class for todays performance and they looked fantastic!

21.01.2022 We had a sneak peek from behind the scenes of the filming taking place today in the Harmony Garden of our Yr 6 students who are taking part in Global Science Opera 2020. Science Opera is an international event where science is presented through performing arts. This years Opera will focus on energy and sustainability and will be televised in Norway on 20th November and live streamed to the rest of the world
21.01.2022 What an experience for our Yr6 Future Problem Solving (FPS) teams as they spent last Saturday at St Mary’s Anglican Girls College with Dr Heary taking part in the National rounds of the FPS competition. The closing ceremony takes place this Friday when category winners are announced to see which teams go through to Internationals.....we have all fingers and toes crossed for our students
18.01.2022 We had a large contingent of students from Yr3-6 representing Ardross PS at the Interschool Athletics Carnival yesterday at Perry Lakes stadium. While we had some fantastic results individually and in the team games, it was the students sportsmanship and determination which we are most proud of
17.01.2022 Entries in our annual Japanese Origami, Manga & Shodo competition are on display in the library. The judging of the entries is going to be tough for Sensai - the standard of work from our students is exceptional!!

17.01.2022 Were so happy LEGO club is back! The library was buzzing today with our super keen LEGO builders getting creative with their models and enjoying working together with their peers. LEGO Club is on every Wednesday 12.40-1.05pm in the library for PP-Yr6 students.

16.01.2022 Its that time of year again when we hold our annual Ashton Scholastic Book Fair! This year we will open our library doors from 8.15am-9am on Wednesday 09th and Thursday 10th Sept plus all day Friday 11th Sept (athletics carnival day) from 8.15am-3.30pm. Social distancing regulations will need to be in place and we will be accepting credit card payments only (no cash sales). We look forward to seeing you at the Fair!

13.01.2022 Tomorrow is.......Athletics Carnival Day! In addition to information that has already been sent home via Connect and the school newsletter, below are a few extra things to wed like our community to remember: We want to welcome everyone to attend the carnival tomorrow for the whole day. Parents and relatives are are all welcome! Due to Dept of Education policy our furry family members, dogs, must stay at home during the carnival.... Feel free to wear your faction colours to school, hairspray and zinc is allowed but hairspray in aerosol cans cannot be applied at school. Please bring your own seating, you are welcome to bring chairs and picnic blankets. Please be careful where you put them as there are some ants that have taken up residence on the oval From 10:20 - lunchtime we will be rotating around the oval in our year groups so seating may need to be moved for a short time. During these rotations, some of the games will be on the quadrangle. When you are rotating, please listen to the teachers and support your students from the sidelines. When you are spectating on the quadrangle, please do so from the verandah. Feel free to bring your own food, there is a lovely tradition of a picnic lunch on the oval. The P&C have organised a coffee van and a cake stall so please make sure you pop over and support them Mrs Jones will have the Book Fair open all day in the library if you havent already had the chance to stop by Credit card payments only. And finally, please remember your sunscreen and hat!
13.01.2022 Today a select group of Yr6 students were treated to a well deserved pizza lunch in the boardroom with our principal Mrs Mikkelsen. These students were recognised for exceeding the responsibilities within their leadership roles in our school.

13.01.2022 Did you know our old school canteen was converted into a Makers Space? With thanks to Mr Hill who secured a school grant last year, this space has been equipped with tools and recyclable materials for our students to use and enhance their skills.
12.01.2022 As part of our school health & well being program, students from Room 3 and Room 5 enjoyed a visit from Joe Boltons Suitcase Circus earlier this week. The circus skills workshop encourages team work, creative thinking, positive risk taking, perseverance and......a lot of FUN!

We will have staff members at each meeting point, but please be aware they are there as participants not supervisors. If your children have never walked or ridden to school on their own before, please come and join them. A fruit and yoghurt breakfast will be served at school to celebrate our healthy lifestyle......and finally, the forecast for Friday is hot, so please remember water and sunscreen
10.01.2022 How lucky are we to now have our very own recording/podcast studio! These resources will not only be fun to use but will enhance our students digital media opportunities. This studio has been made possible by our Year 6 students in 2019 who won a STEM competition earning themselves prizes and our school money to spend on STEM learning. A huge thank you to Mrs Mason (who is now on maternity leave), Mr Hooper and Mr Hill for their hard work in bringing the studio together!

10.01.2022 Smiles all round again today as students from Year 5&6 joined forces for the Modcrosse and Cricket Interschool carnivals at Tompkins Park. These two carnivals are the largest of their kind in the metro area, coordinated by representatives from the East Fremantle Lacrosse Club and the WACA. The carnivals always guarantee a lot of excitement and most importantly....a lot of fun!
09.01.2022 The celebrations continue this week as we congratulate this group of Yr 6 students who have qualified for the National rounds of the Future Problem Solving (FPS) competition. FPS is a research based, academic program that teaches problem solving strategies, collaboration, critical and creative thinking and effective communication. We wish our 3 teams the best of luck!
08.01.2022 Its certainly a busy time of year for Dr Heary, Mr Hill and the Year 5&6 students who participate in our school HOTS program. This week has seen our Yr5 students create some complex mind boggling Ted Ed riddles using the stop motion application. The Yr6s have been continuing to build and prepare their robots which theyll use to compete in the Robocup 2020 WA State Junior competition in November, as well as working on a practise FPS (Future Problem Solving) paper as they prepare to take part in the FPS qualifying rounds for Nationals next Monday - we wish all participating Yr6 students the best of luck!

04.01.2022 Last week we enjoyed an aroma of pizza coming from our Kindy classrooms as they transformed into an Italian restaurant. As part of the activity, students made a shopping list of ingredients and placed orders with waiters, just like in a real restaurant, before making their very own pizzas in a wood fired pizza oven. Buon Appetito!
02.01.2022 There’s been a ‘Book Week Bake Off’ today amongst our Yr6 students in Room 20. Students worked in groups and baked their cakes from scratch and decorated them to represent the theme ‘Curious Creatures, Wild Minds’. The all important taste testing and judging takes place this afternoon
02.01.2022 Game, Set, Match! Tennis is the focus in phys ed during the first few weeks of Term 4. Students have been enjoying learning and improving their tennis skills with Miss Brown and making the most of the temporary nets set up in the quad during recess and lunch. We are fortunate to have Blue Gum Tennis Club coming to Ardross during weeks 2-4 to provide some additional expert coaching to our students.
