24.01.2022 August is the ideal time to walk the Walk the York, whether you take small sections or are a serious walker and take larger sections each day. When you drive by you tend to see the plants looking like the first picture, when you walk you find they are all different and coming into flower about now.

22.01.2022 This week's noticeboard quote.

21.01.2022 Copy of some information just received. A good opportunity to learn what the fenced off area on Park Terrace is all about. Park Terrace and Esplanade reserves Field Day Over the last few months a project to help better look after the reserves near Park Terrace and Esplanade has been underway. The area contains a unique collection of local native plants and is... also an important amenity asset for the town and local residents. Friends of Park Terrace and Esplanade reserves has been formed as a community group. The Friends group has obtained funding for a management plan for the area which will be undertaken over the next few months. Yorke Peninsula council has temporarily stopped slashing the area in order to better see what native plants and weeds are present. The result has been a wonderful show of the native plants flowering currently (and lots of gazanias) and also a number of additional native species being recorded on a recent site view. We are inviting you to a field day on site for 10 am 12 on Wed Oct 14. The field day will provide information about the history of the site, the plants which can currently be seen and the management plan process (which will involve a formal public consultation based on a draft plan). Related to Covid 19, please book in to attend the field day. And join the informal Friends group. 16.01.2022 The Ardrossan Information Outlet sells various local items, but perhaps many of us wish to ensure that the everyday food we eat is produced here in Australia but Australian owned businesses. Let's buy and eat local!

15.01.2022 You do not have to attend the Ardrossan Uniting Church to enjoy the weekly sayings displayed on the church notice board by Rev, Jane McDonald. Jane admits to borrowing some from other sources!

14.01.2022 Have a look at the Ardrossan Alive page for more information.

12.01.2022 A few of the items we have on display from the Zanoni wreck. Well worth a visit to the Ardrossan Museum to view the Maritime room as well as the other four rooms of exhibits.

11.01.2022 Come to the Museum tomorrow morning at ten oclock for a short talk on the history of Ardrossan by our resident historian Barbara Lodge. Barbara will be talking about Parara to Pine Point, South Australia's most interesting Beach. Listening to Barbara is a treat, she certainly makes history interesting and personal. The Museum committee will serve you tea and coffee while you listen to Barbara.

08.01.2022 There is some interesting information on the Ardrossan Alive Page. We are also looking for information we can photocopy or pictures we can scan to put on Facebook for the community to enjoy as we plan for our 150 year celebration.

08.01.2022 We are celebrating the completion of stage three of the Ardrossan Storm Water Project. This project has taken three and a half years to build due to the complexity and cost of the project, we now look forwards to our sporting bodies reaping the rewards. The Ardrossan Progress Association received a grant from the Department of Sports and Racing in 2016 towards this project, other major contributors are the Yorke Peninsula Council, and the Ardrossan Progress Association. The... other contributors were Ardrossan Bowls Club, Ardrossan Cricket Club, Ardrossan Football Club and Ardrossan Golf Club who will also benefit from the water harvested from the project. The Ardrossan Progress Association thanks the Department of Sports and Racing for the Grant funding which made this project possible. We also thank the Yorke Peninsula Council for their project management and including the final stage in this years budget.

06.01.2022 The History Council of South Australia named our very own Barbara Lodge 2020 Long Life Historian of the year! What a well deserved honour for a lady who has worked tirelessly to record the history of Ardrossan and the district. she was so surprised! We thank the Museum Comittee for nominating her.

06.01.2022 Surrounded by vibrant red clay cliffs, Ardrossan boasts spectacular scenery both above and below the water. Less than two hours drive from Adelaide on the York...e Peninsula, Ardrossan is an easy site for beginner divers and snorkelers to explore the waters around the jetty. As soon as you put your head in the water you can see large glittering schools of small bait fish dancing just under the surface. The jetty pylons are covered in an array of sponges in varying colors where you can see small pygmy leatherjackets, blennies and local nudibranchs hanging out.

06.01.2022 As one of the people able to put posts on the Museum & Information Outlet Facebook page, I have tried to feature some snippets over the last few weeks. Some have mentioned specific local businesses- and there are a lot of them in the area. Creating a post that covers everybody is nigh on impossible! However, a suggestion is that every individual business is provided with a dedicated post on a specific day. It's an idea that would require some attention- and how would businesses not on Facebook become included. Is there anyone from the local business community who would wish to take on the role of coordinating this scheme?.

06.01.2022 Perhaps you might say that with the arrival of new drainage items arriving near the Ardrossan Caravan Park, the pipe dream of the storm water harvesting scheme reaches another milestone. The scheme to conserve storm water has been the subject of much hard work and money over recent decades. It's been a combination of work and finance from both the Council, the Ardrossan Progress Assn and members of the Storm Water Committee. Sadly, a few of those who were there at the onset of the project are no longer with us. The arrival of the pipes, culverts etc. will enable the final phase of the current plan to be completed in the near future. Watch out for the road works near the entrance to the Ardrossan Caravan Park.

05.01.2022 Great to hear on an apprenticeship offer here in the town.

04.01.2022 Some good news from the top of the town and main street! The Op Shop has reopened- donations of goods only during open hours please! The Ardrossan Community and Men's Shed is selling chopped kindling wood on Monday mornings and Thursday... If you have heard already, the Library is open- Monday to Friday 3.15 PM to 4 PM and Saturday 9AM to Noon. Good to see the every helpful Ronny back on the desk! Wilma's on Yorke, along with other cafes open- check out the new spacious layout at the Coffee House. Top Pub open, in line with COVID 19 rules. Well done to all those other businesses that have been able to provide service to people over the last few months. Visitor Info Centre and Museum open

04.01.2022 The Chair to the Centenary Committee was Jan Hills father M.L. Sanders. 02.01.2022 The Ardrossan Progress Association is very pleased to see the stairs to the northern side of the Jetty completed.
