25.01.2022 We have a new landlord. The premises has been sold but the business is going strong. Current lease exists for another 9 or so years, so we’ll be baking up a storm for a while yet!

Unfortunately we have been cleaned out of baked goods, the last week has seen extraordinary sales and while the bakery team have worked tirelessly, there is a limit to what a small country bakery can do. Safe travels to all the visitors enjoying what Yorkes has to offer.

16.01.2022 APPRENTICE wanted! We will be offering a four year apprenticeship in baking and pastry chef Ideally a local person, who has a good work ethic, aged around 17, willing to work early starts and committed to a career in baking. A trial period, working with our team to assess the likely candidates will apply. This could occur as a school based traineeship, leading to an apprenticeship. The successful applicant would be also required to work at Maitland Bakery from time to tim...e after the completion of the first year! Enquires should be directed to: [email protected]

13.01.2022 Ardrossan Bakery will be open tomorrow, Wednesday the 28th. Glen and Nick will be up early getting the old brick oven fired up and baking bread and pastries ready for 8 o’clock opening.



13.01.2022 Change of business hours due to COVID-19 restrictions! From tomorrow Wednesday the 21st until further notice. Weekdays: 11 -1 pm open for the lunch period only.... Weekends: Closed Bread will be available, hot food, pastries, drinks and coffee also. To ensure you can get bread please order where possible as we will be baking limited amounts. We appreciate your custom and understanding at this testing time. These hours could change due to changing circumstances.

04.01.2022 COVID-19 lockdown restrictions will end Saturday midnight. So we will be open for business as normal Sunday 9-3. The baker, Andrew and Liam will be toiling in the bakery to get the pastries and cakes ready in time for opening Sunday morning!... Fresh bread and rolls etc, will all be available Monday morning as business resumes as normal. Thanks to everyone who stayed home and cared about others!

03.01.2022 It has been confirmed!!!! Glen Schwartz will start work here next Wednesday the 27th! He is the last good baker to work here!... I’m sure everyone will remember his bread and savouries! Nick Price from Cousin Jacks Bakery in the Copper Triangle started with us Monday morning and has made a huge difference already. I am very confident with these two top bakers on our team we will make the most of what the old brick oven can produce! A big thankyou to Liam the apprentice who has helped us through this rough time, which enabled us to re-open this week! Bad news followed by very good news.! Our baker has left us at short notice. We will therefore be closing today Friday the 15th as soon as we run out of savory's, pies, pasties etc. We will remain closed until Tuesday the 19th. One of our new bakers starts Monday the 18th, he is well known in the copper triangle and will be an asset. In two weeks, we have another baker starting, who will renew his long acquaintance with the old brick oven. His identity will be revealed once that is fully confirmed. We envisage a significant improvement in quality and variety of baked product. Sourdough bread etc I cant quite believe the situation has turned around so quickly and favorably! We are looking forward to this next phase. Exciting times ahead, Stay tuned.

02.01.2022 Great news that South Australians can soon get back on the road and enjoy our wonderful state! We’re not open this Sunday for Mother’s Day, but we should be open the following Sunday the 17th, fingers crossed. Well done SA people for the way you dealt with this virus
