06.01.2022 Don’t let Caltrop hitch a free ride This weekend think about spending some time tackling prickly pest weeds like Caltrop. This time of year is the germination... period for this spiky declared weed, which spreads by sticking to shoes, tyres and stock. Landscape Officer Ben Page says right now Caltrop is easy to pull out by hand. "Think of it as a COVID-safe activity; a quick walk around your property with your eyes peeled for Caltrop." If you've already got Caltrop prickles from previous years, here are a couple of tips: 1 Throw on some thongs and walk over the infested area (then carefully dispose of the prickles) 2 Lay down a piece of old carpet, walk over it and then put it in the bin.
