24.01.2022 We love to travel. Who doesn't, right? But sadly with the present coronavirus situation gripping the world, there is little chance that any meaningful travel is going to resume in the next six months. We hope that once things are under control in Australia we see a big spike in domestic travel especially to hard hit areas that were already hurting from the recent bushfires and have had a double whammy. Whatever happens Australians won't stop travelling and although it might be a while to look forward to, we will be back out there soon enough. https://www.arenburg.com/

24.01.2022 Another great question to ask before signing your retirement village contract is if your friends/relatives can stay with you for a period of time, especially if they live out of town. And if so, is there a time limit to your visitors staying with you? All retirement villages have their own set of rules and regulations, so its important you fully familiarise yourself with these to makes sure they fit your lifestyle and personality. What other questions to ask? Here is a ...helpful (downloadable too) RV checklist we compiled. https://www.arenburg.com/retirement-village-checklist/ See more

23.01.2022 With Australias ageing population, families are dealing more and more with issues such as caring for elderly relatives - what are their options regarding their care, who is making decisions about what, etc. Discussing these kinds of issues can result in conflict within a family, be it between the ageing parent and their children or siblings themselves. Here is a very real and insightful piece: https://www.seabhs.org/poc/view_doc.php... from a clinical counsellor Gary Giles (US based), that outlines the most common stumbling blocks siblings run into when the time comes to make decision on the care for their elderly parent/s. Part II: https://www.seabhs.org/poc/view_doc.php presents some of the solution. https://www.arenburg.com/

22.01.2022 What makes Arenburg Legal different you may ask? As Glen Falting, one of our senior lawyers, put it "We see ourselves as an holistic support law firm, where we have clients coming to us often not knowing whether their question relates to a legal or financial issue or is simply a matter more relevant to accessing aged care generally. We lead them through the process, help them navigate the area and eventually ease their transition into aged care." www.arenburg.com

21.01.2022 Identity crisis after retirement. Retirement: this amazing period of permanent fun filled vacation when you finally get to enjoy your passions and interests ... or the end of productive and meaningful activities and a period of trying to fill the hours of each day? These are somewhat extreme views, but certainly not uncommon amongst retirees. But what if there was a third way, a more balanced and identity grounded way to enjoy your retirement years? According to this piece on... Thrive Global "winning at retirement isnt just about how much money you have saved in the bank; its also about preparing for the social and emotional issues that can arise." 20.01.2022 Picking an executor for your will may seem simple, but theres a few important things you need to consider. Most people know they ought to choose an executor who is trustworthy, but its also important that this person has time to complete their executor duties, knows exactly what is expected of them and is up to the task. 19.01.2022 What are the parallels between the present coronavirus crisis and the GFC for business and finance? This is a key question a lot of people are trying to come to terms with not least the global stock markets, who seem to be completely unable to come up with a solution themselves. The incredible volatility across markets is a sign of utter confusion and it will be fascinating to see the market pick a side (up or down), and the ramifications of that choice. While there has ...been a remarkable shift down, there is still a long, long way to go if the choice is in that direction. On the flip side, if the market responds with a view that "this too shall pass", we could see a huge upswing in equities by the middle of the year. Anyone who is clear on this, and gets it right, will make their millions. For everyone else its a wait and see game. Whatever decision, the regulatory reaction will be fascinating. Will we see a move towards less regulation to free up markets, or more regulation to ensure stability? Time will tell. https://www.arenburg.com/ See more

15.01.2022 You may have heard of an enduring power of attorney before, but what does it actually mean? In a nutshell its a legal document that outlines who you would like to manage your affairs (financial, personal and health affairs) during your lifetime, should you lose capacity to do so yourself. In this case, the person/people appointed under the enduring power of attorney is the person/are the people you choose to manage your affairs. You can choose when their powers begin (yes, y...ou can have different attorneys for different matters) or even limit their powers. With attorneys powers, comes a great deal of responsibility too - they are legally liable for their actions. Thinking of appointing your attorney, and need some guidance?
