25.01.2022 Last weekend saw the running of the hugely popular Saxby Roundup. That the event even ran this year after the floods damaged a lot of their infrastructure was amazing, and as always, the committee ran a cracking show. Here are a few photos of our Argyle Cowboys before and during their events. No major injuries were incurred thankfully, only some wounded pride!

25.01.2022 POSITION AVAILABLE 2019 NW QLD CATTLE STATION A unique opportunity exists with Argyle Pastoral Company, Julia creek for 2019. The position we have available is a new position, and would suit a person who is keen to work in the house and homestead complex, but is equally happy to spend time working in the cattle yards, and out mustering. Horse and/or motorbike skills essential, as is a manual license. Single, air conditioned accommodation and all meals supplied. You must po...ssess good communication skills, be a self starter and have a flexible nature. Please email Edwina Hick [email protected] to express your interest. See more

20.01.2022 Welcome back in 2020! Here is a great little snapshot of some of the cattle work that has been going on here in the past month. Footage was taken and supplied by our Leading Hand, Jimmy Stinson.

20.01.2022 Another huge weekend of Sedan Dipping done and dusted for another year. For all at Argyle, the weekend actually started last Tuesday when the whole camp moved up to Sedan Dip to begin preparations for what was a wonderful weekend. All at Argyle put in a giant effort, and should be commended for their tireless work, which was remarked upon by so many over the weekend. Everyone had a go at either campdrafting, or rodeo events, and some were more successful than others, but at...Continue reading

17.01.2022 Well last week saw us mustering, drafting and trucking sale cattle off Rutchillo. Here is a short video of the steers following the Toyota to the yards. Next week everyone heads to Momba for the first round muster, so it will be very quiet here without them!!

16.01.2022 On Friday we flew to Toowoomba to visit the children for the weekend, which we were very excited about. So much has happened in the time since we put them into school, and it has bought home how important family is . These two genltlemen pictured here with us, DeBurgh Joyce and Doug Bryce, are now well and truly part of the Argyle Family Doug and DeBurgh have been friends since they were boarders at TSS together over 50 years ago, and they still squabble like school boys!... Until two weeks ago, we had never met them, but they loaded up, and arrived in Julia Creek wanting to help. They landed on our door step, and we will be forever in their debt, and so grateful that they did. They along with Hugh Barnet, Penny and Graeme Booth, Mark Ennis and our wonderful staff have helped begin to bolt Argyle, Huddersfield and Rutchillo back together. They gave us purpose, and have all helped us to look forward, and to be thankful for what we do have, family, friendship and a determination to rebuild .

16.01.2022 STAFF PROFILE BRONTE TREMLETT Bronte came to work with us at the start of 2019. Straight out of suburban Melbourne, post our Monsoon flood, she was thrown in the deep end, with her first tasks being flood fencing in the extreme heat, With flies and the stench of mud and debris. Hard work for anyone, however she bought with her energy, good humour and a sharp mind which made her invaluable from the start. Bronte possesses a fantastic attitude and work ethic, and an enthusia...sm to learn. In a previous life Bronte had been working as a vet nurse in a 24 hour emergency clinic, and working on a friends sheep farm on weekends in country Victoria. Bronte has always loved and ridden horses, and last year had her very first go at Campdrafting. Needless to say she is hooked! in July we held a campdraft school, and she got her first full course, which she was thrilled about. Bronte has continued to add to her skill base, machinery operation including backhoe and grader, as well as many new cattle husbandry skills. outside of work Bronte has been actively involved in the local social and sporting scene and participates in Touch Football, netball and attends race meetings and campdrafts when they are on. we look forward to working with Bronte next year too. 15.01.2022 Recently we held a horsemanship and Campdrafting school for our staff. The weekend saw instructors Darcy and Alan Davison, two amazing horsemen with a lot of knowledge between them presiding over the group.Everyone got a lot out of the weekend. There was an emphasis on Campdrafting skills which kept the days fun for all involved. Night time saw wonderful dinners and great camaraderie in the group. I am sure that all minds are now brimming with information, and waiting to put new found skills into action. Thanks must go to Scott and Gina Harrington and family for supplying us for with a beautiful line of heifers over the weekend.

15.01.2022 First round at Momba is completed! All weaners were trucked into Argyle to be weighed, processed and walked away to their new paddocks. A lovely, quiet line of cattle , they marched out beautifully for us yesterday morning. Tidy up jobs happening here on the downs this week, before everyone heads off to Cooradine next week to run fences, tidy up roads and feed out lick, before the muster starts there in a couple of weeks.

14.01.2022 Dont forget to head up to the bar on Thursday night and get your dinner. School of the Air year six student, Will Hick will be cooking up a storm and serving up sausages and onions in bread for $2 a pop. All funds raised go towards the year six Canberra trip.

13.01.2022 The ties that bind... This past week we have had the pleasure of hosting the Wight family from Naracoorte in South Australia. Nick Wight worked for us in 2005 and 2006 and has made many trips to Argyle with his farther Graeme and a host of mates over the years. This year though he bought his lovely wife Nicky and three boys Sid, Digby and George, who had a ball at Cooradine, and then here at Argyle. We love hosting members of our extended Argyle family, and this was no ex...ception. The Wights then travelled on to Townsville, where they caught up with Don and Elizabeth, and Nicks parents . Nick has always been a great communicator, none more so than this year. Always ringing for a chat, just to see how we are faring, keeping us in his thoughts. It was great to be able to repay his kindness and thoughtfulness this week. see you in Toowoomba next weekend! See more

13.01.2022 Last Thursday Patrick and Mayor Belinda Michelle Murphy, spoke at the Rural Press Club Luncheon in Brisbane about the devastating floods that occurred in our shire in early February. They previously spoke at a luncheon in Rockhampton organised by a former Cloncurry friend, Martin Pentecost . Both Luncheons have helped to raise funds to distribute to community groups within the shires that have been subjected to the flooding, and to registered charities that are currently helping in the regions.

13.01.2022 Congratulations to former employee, David Glennie who recently became engaged to Janine De Neuilly-Rice. David worked with us in 2012, and we had the pleasure of having his sister, Diana Glennie working with us last year. David and Diana hail from Somerset East, in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. We wish David and Janine a lifetime of happiness!

13.01.2022 Drafting heifers at Na Vista yards on Argyle yesterday. Thanks to Linsay Dunn for the footage.

12.01.2022 To our extended Argyle Pastoral company family and friends, we wanted to thank you all for the messages of support and for keeping us in your thoughts. Yes, what we and the rest of the North West Queensland community are experiencing is devastating and catastrophic. This is the greatest livestock disaster in Australian history, bar none. It is something, that if you are not here on the ground to see, it is impossible to comprehend. Yes Facebook has been saturated with imag...es and articles, but they cannot convey the true horror and magnitude of the event. We love our cattle dearly, and to see them die in such horrific conditions is devastating. it has left us shocked and grieving. We are however, still at our post and will remains so. We will survive and rebuild our herd, and our company. At the moment we need to continue to concentrate on looking after the surviving cattle, many of whom are still shell shocked and disorientated. When this is over we will have many people to thank including the squadron of helicopter pilots who have gone above and beyond in trying to save cattle. Dane and Georgia Crocker, who have been instrumental in coordinating the helicopter effort, and our own staff who have done a mighty job,in particular Jane Pinkerton, who from the very outset was actively out in the helicopter, checking cattle, opening gates and fences, and then later as the crisis deepened, working really hard in horrendous conditions, just to save our beloved horses. These are hard times, and are going to call for resolute determination. Fortunately, over a long period of time, there have been many people in the Argyle story, who are indeed part of the fabric of this company, who have set a fine example of those qualities. Thank you all, and take care xx See more

12.01.2022 Today we stand tall and proudly wear green in support of all Queensland farmers. #FairLaws4Farmers #OurFutureYourFood #ShameOnYouLabour

11.01.2022 Former long standing Employee of Argyle Pastoral Company, Dane Crocker and his wife Georgia, also a former employee, have started a business in the Julia Creek district called Crocker Rural Pty Ltd. We have contracted Dane to build a new set of yards for us at Rutchillo, and then he will be heading over to Huddersfield to put a new set up over there. Dane was largely instrumental in helping build the new yards at Argyle in 2006. Quality workmanship and attention to detail are Danes hallmarks, and we are so pleased to have him and his staff on board to do these yards for us

11.01.2022 Walking the sale cattle in at Rutchillo

11.01.2022 We are proud to support Saxby Round Up and the Juvenile Draft this coming weekend

11.01.2022 Another sedan Dip Races, Rodeo and Campdraft done and dusted for 2018. A huge thank you to all of our staff for the effort they put in over the weekend. As with all of these events, it is a team effort, and everyone put in the hard yards to help make the weekend the success that it was again in 2018. Unfortunately we are missing Simon Moerman and Tim Asta from the "Family "photo. They were probably busy working !

10.01.2022 The 2019 season has wound down, with everyone leaving for their Christmas break. This year we say farewell to Tim Burgess, and Cameron Woodgate. We thank them both for the great job they did in 2018 and 2019, and we wish them well in their future endeavors. We would like to wish all staff and their families a wonderful Christmas, and a happy, safe and healthy new year. We look forward to seeing everyone else rested and refreshed in 2020, ready to do it all again!!

10.01.2022 Happy Birthday dear Bronte. 25 times around the sun! We are so very lucky to have you on #teamargyle. We hope you had a lovely day!

10.01.2022 Fair laws for farmers!!

09.01.2022 Last week saw the loading of nearly 1000 sale heifers bound for the Northern Territory. This was the first real test for the new yards at Rutchillo. We are pleased to say that they worked an absolute treat. Dane and his men are now over at Huddersfield building a new set over there.

09.01.2022 The muster at Cooradine was done in record time, and now the weavers are home and processed. The new yards at Huddersfield are complete thanks to Dane Crocker and his team. Cant wait to use them!! Simon Moerman has headed home for Christmas early, and the rest of the Argyle Familyhave a couple of weeks of work left before they to, head home for Christmas. There has been the odd storm about that has prompted a bit of green pick, and sees the entire kangaroo population on the lawn most nightsWill has finished his last day of primary school with Mount Isa school of the air, and Ella is on her way home from boarding school. The grandparents and some cousins are heading out for Christmas, so plenty of fun times ahead!!!

08.01.2022 Momba heifers on the move.

07.01.2022 Second round at Momba is now complete, wearers home and processed. Everyone home for a couple of weeks, and then head up to Cooradine in early November to do a second round there. The end of the year is closing in fast. It was lovely for Ella to be able to spend a few days at Momba as it was school holidays. Willo will be away at school next year too, so we will have to make memories during the holidays!

05.01.2022 Although COVID 19, has very little affect on our lives where we live and work, it has meant a very small social life for all here at Argyle. Where we would normally pull up for Campdrafts and race meetings, and most weekends, we have kept working. We have been extremely conscious of the lack of these down times, and have tried to keep people busy with work, if that is what they wished to do! While great for the bank accounts, we thought they all deserved a break, and some f...un for all their hard work. we organised a horsemanship and campdrafting school over four days, for all, and invited the Brinard and Spoonbill crew for some fun and interaction too. Needless to say we all had a load of fun, learnt a huge amount, and had a hotly contested competition to round it all out. congratulations to Bronte Tremlett for the highest individual score, Jimmy Stinson for the highest accumulative score over two rounds and Scott Harrington and Edwina Hick for the joint Highest Cutout score. 05.01.2022 Thank you to all who applied for the position with Argyle Pastoral Company for 2019. The position has now been filled.

05.01.2022 A reminder that it is not over, and we all have a long way to go. We are moving forward as best we all can, in our own way, but the support we are giving each other is amazing xx

04.01.2022 A real honour today for some of our staff to meet the Prime Minister of Australia, Mr Scott Morrison at Burke and Wills Campdraft.

04.01.2022 Earlier this year we travelled down to Quirrindi in NSW to attend the wedding of Miss JanieStent, our Governess in 2011 and 2012. Miss Janie was ably attended by Ruth Reynolds who worked with us for nearly eight years. It was indeed an honour to be asked and to be able to attend this beautiful wedding. The Argyle Family ties are strong with our past employees, and one of the reasons we started this page, to keep our familyin the loop. We wish Janie and her husband Charlie Stokes a lifetime of love, laughter and happiness.

02.01.2022 THE WAR STARTS TODAY Go Team Argyle- Jimmy, Cameron, Tim, Bronte and Stuart. Looking forward to seeing the reinforcements. WHAT WE HAVE WE HOLD.....

02.01.2022 So I put these photos on Instagram, on my personal page, and tagged Argyle Pastoral Company. For whatever reason, it would not transfer, so here we are again. We finally finished first round at Cooradine, after a disjointed few weeks. It was great to get away from phones and internet, and get back to what really matters in life, cows and grass The cows look amazingly good, and they all walked beautifully. We are blessed to do what we do, with a great group of young people around us. Love what you do, and you will never work a day in your life.

01.01.2022 This week has seen mustering start at Rutchillo with all steers being weighed and put into paddocks according to weight ranges.
