24.01.2022 Come join us, meet some new mates and be part of bringing the Rosewood Railway back to life! As works continue to reopen we need your help! Our to do list is varied, and as such we are looking for people with a wide range of skills, but the plan is moving forward is as follows with much excitement. Rolling stock work priorities will be covered in their respective posts, but currently this is where we stand with Infrastructure.... Track Infrastructure: We are currently working on grass clearing and poison spraying of the track. Work will then be required for the installation of steel sleepers, so we can work towards track inspection and certification. Between Cabanda and Kunkula an electric staff system will be implemented. This will require the repair of lineside wires to and the instruments certified. The Frogs Hollow area where some rolling stock is sorted will also have work done for vegetation management. Stations: At Cabanda Station we will need to repair vandalism and damage to male toilet and station office. At Kunkala Station a clean up will be required in order for a new toilet block to be installed. If you or anyone else are able to assist us with these works, please contact us at https://www.rosewoodrailway.org.au/contact-us/ We are always looking for people with a wide range of skills to come along to our work days and help reopen one of the West Moretons best attractions.

18.01.2022 The 29th November marks a significant day in the history of Railways in Queensland. Fifty years ago to the day on Saturday the 29th November 1969 a special train departed Yarraman Station carrying ARHSQD Members to commemorate "South-East Queensland's Last Steam Train". C17 Locomotives No 917 and No 997 worked this train. The photo shows the two Locomotives passing through a cutting near Nukku. Thanks to Mike Quirk for the reminder of the anniversary of this date in history via the QGR Days Gone By Facebook page and for the photo....
18.01.2022 On Saturday 21/02/21 we put together a small freight train with DL3. The opportunity was taken to move around some of our lesser used freight wagons into the workshop. This will be for certification and repair, as to ensure the running gear is in good condition for any future use. We also had some new volunteers on site to show them around.... If you are also interested in helping out you can reach out at: https://www.rosewoodrailway.org.au/contact-us/

15.01.2022 General Electric No 1210 was the leader of the first class of mainline diesel electrics in QLD. Delivered in 1952 and in service on 17 November that year (she was surpassed by No 1213 being placed in service on 6 November) No 1210 is shown in Townsville with the "Inlander" headboard fitted. No 1210 was renumbered 1300 in 1956 and 1150 in 1965. She was condemned on 4 February 1988 and purchased by the ARHS (QLD Division) in December 1995. 15.01.2022 Meet RM55, or as we call him, Red Fred! Red Fred started life as an AEC petrol powered railmotor in December 1930. It appears to have been based on the chassis of an AEC bus/truck. Similar to the ones being used for the infamous London 'Routemaster' busses of the time! Later the AEC petrol motor replaced with a 38 kW (50hp) 4 cylinder Gardner diesel engine. For most of its life Red Fred could be found around Southern Queensland until 1954, when he moved to Townsville. As the ...last of his type, he was withdrawn from service in 1966. Red Fred and trailer PL72 were transported to Kunkula in July 1990. While mostly living the rest of their days at our Musuem, they did still venture to places such as Yaraka as late as 2002!
