25.01.2022 So, I've been AWOL with this page for quite a while, but am now looking for any referrals. If anyone knows anyone who needs a hand, you all know me. I'm available on Skype or face-to-face on the North Coast. Love to all, Ariel

25.01.2022 My family and I have been on Yellow alert (watch and Act), on and off for the last week, living next to the Mt Nardi fire. Being on alert over a period of time teaches valuable lessons, but also has both psychological and physical on the body. According to the General Adaptation Theory, when the body is in a state of stress, the first phase is known as Alarm (fight or flight activated). ... The second, after a short period of time, is known as Resistance: here the body and mind try to get back to pre-stress levels of hormones and other bodily mechanisms (including those that affect the mind). The third, after prolonged exposure to stress, is known as Exhaustion: this stage can affect the immune system and cause long lasting physical and mental problems. In light of the above, I am offering free counselling sessions (that last as long as needed), to anyone affected by the fires. If you know anyone- from those displaced, to members of the RFS, or other emergency services workers, please pass this post along and get them to PM me. Stay safe everyone and always remember to appreciate the little things, Ariel

22.01.2022 Looking for some good news for a change (or for Change)? This isn't a project to make people feel better about cute things. This is all about Actual work being done, right now.... (Plus David Byrne started it!). Signing up to their newsletters was one of the best things I've done. Enjoy

15.01.2022 Hi Facebook World. I haven't written anything for a while- what a year! I thought that it might be a good time to share one of the most well researched, effective, and all-round helpful psychological tools that I know of. I ask my clients to take this survey before we chat but thoroughly recommend it to anyone.... It is a questionnaire that draws on the principles of Positive Psychology (which I will be exploring in future posts). The questionnaire helps identify what are called our "character strengths" at the time of answering the questions (which takes about 15 minutes- well worth the small amount of time). These strengths are qualities that, if we begin to draw on them- by bringing them into our lives in creative ways- help us to feel more like ourselves (who we truly are), which, in turn, well, you'll see! If anyone takes the survey (which is anonymous- an email is requested only so we can keep track of our results over time) and would like any guidance as to how to work with their results, feel free to PM me or cantact me through my website: arielrowan.com/counselling Enjoy!

04.01.2022 Quick post for people stuck inside (or just people generally). This is my favourite way to help folks find their own ways to find their own ways to flourish by themselves: https://www.viacharacter.org/ It’s a quick survey that provides people with their three main character strength: the things we love most and are good at- the Big parts of who we are, which can change as we move along our paths.... All you have to do is find creative ways to bring more of the components of your top three into your life and presto! Backed up by great research from the field of Positive Psychology. Great day, Ariel
