25.01.2022 Listen to Jodie from the Land Art Generator Initiative & Martin from NH Architecture talk about the St Kilda foreshore triangle design which won the 2018 Land Art Generator Initiative (LAGI) Competition. Ark collaborated on the project to meet the brief for a large-scale, site-specific public art installation that would generate clean energy.

25.01.2022 Special commendation for Brickworks Living Building Design Competition, another successful collaboration with NH architecture. The first competition of its kind in Australia and first in the world to focus on a retail centre, "Brickworks" received a special commendation in the Living Building Challenge design competition. The brief was to design a retail space that would generate its own energy with renewable resources, capture and treat all of its water and be a beautiful environment for members of the public to enjoy every day. The development targeted a Living Building Challenge certification, resulting in the development being net-positive energy and net-positive water. Construction will commence mid 2019.

25.01.2022 This is the award winning project that we collaborated on for the recent Land Art Generator Initiative (LAGI) Award for 2018. The competition attracted entries from hundreds of design teams from more than 50 countries with concept proposals for large-scale works of public art capable of producing clean energy for the St Kilda triangle. We collaborated with NH Architecture, John Bahoric Design and a committed team of RMIT Architecture students to produce the winning submission which also won Peoples Choice!

15.01.2022 Today, Arks Associate Principal, Mike Rainbow joined a panel of international experts talking at the 2018 Natural Energy Efficiency Conference in Sydney. Naturally cool- the role of Ventilative cooling in commercial and residential buildings. Mike, our Melbourne based engineer worked on what is arguably the worlds most famous passive commercial building with architect Mike Pearce. The Eastgate development in Harare, Zimbabwe was inspired by the physics of termite mounds for its passive cooling system. Click on the article below for more information and a video link.

11.01.2022 ANOTHER GOOD REASON TO INSTALL RENEWABLE ENERGY..... On Friday, the Andrews government said that it would legislate to ban single network providers and do away with the current requirement that many residential buildings in Melbourne have embedded networks for energy. An exemption would apply to apartment blocks that use renewable energy micro-grids, which operate independently of the conventional grid.

03.01.2022 ARK RESOURCES IS DELIGHTED TO ANNOUNCE THEIR PARTICIPATION IN THE COLLABORATIVE PROJECT, LIGHT UP, WINNER OF THE LAND ART GENERATOR INITIATIVE (LAGI) AWARD FOR 2018. The biennial competition attracted entries from hundreds of design teams from more than 50 countries with concept masterplan proposals for large-scale works of public art capable of producing clean energy for the St Kilda triangle. The winning team comprises Ark Resources, NH Architecture, John Bahoric Design a...nd a committed team of RMIT Architecture students. The St Kilda foreshore is an iconic tourist destination. Light Up is a practical and aesthetically pleasing addition to plans for the triangle precinct. Light Up uses three different energy technologies to provide electricity to the City of Port Phillip: flexible mono-crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules, as well as wind energy harvesting and microbial fuel cells from plants. The 8,600 solar modules are housed in a canopy that spans over Jacka Boulevard, connecting the upper Esplanade and the beach. The design generates enough energy to light more than 900 homes as well as streetlights and the Palais Theatre. Practicality is at the core of the design; all elements have been tested in the market. As leaders in environmentally sustainable design, the team at Ark are proud to have collaborated on the winning entry, and to have been selected from so many strong entries from around the world. As well as enhancing the experience for St. Kilda locals and visitors, Ark Resources is committed to projects that lead the way in sustainable energy. This collaboration with NH Architecture followed on from an earlier successful collaboration for the Brickworks international design competition run by the International Living Building Institute for the pioneering retail development in Burwood, Melbourne by Frasers Property Group.
