25.01.2022 The Ark crew were out camping when we learned about the SA Lockdown. We are luckier than many with our season winding down, & feel for those who are going to be badly impacted. In the meantime we are going to try & enjoy our downtime on our little outback island.

17.01.2022 The beautiful bearded dragon! One of our favourite reptiles that can be spotted around Arkaroola. There are many interesting behaviours displayed by these creatures. One that is particularly fascinating is during light rain, a bearded dragon was seen standing up on its rear limbs with its head and tail sloping down. As the water ran forward over its body to its head the lizard would lick it! It went on to hold this position for up to 30 minutes.- Australian Museum You hav...e to be resourceful in the outback! 07.01.2022 Farewell Marcel & Jimbo. Hopefully we see Jimbo back next year after a well earned break (& some time at the beach). But Marcel’s time with us is up & he is off to continue his travels. Thank you so much, you have really become one of the family & it won’t be the same without you. We will see you again I am sure We also said farewell to lovely Nicole - off for the next adventure (hopefully a cellar door or vineyard) but she sprinted before the photos!

03.01.2022 PK capturing first light images last night from the new Ningana Observatory camera #arkaroola #arkaroolawildernesssanctuary The same comet, C/2020 M3 ATLAS, and the Moon YET AGAIN, but this time with a difference: these are first light images from the Arkaroola Imaging Observatory's C14 upgraded from a Hyperstar 3 + ASI1600mc (f/1.9, 89.2' x 67.5' at 1.51"/pixel unbinned) to a Hyperstar 4 + ASI6200mc (f/2.0, 174' x 116' at 2.18"/pixel binned 2x2), therefore almost 4 times the field of view in each shot. Obviously the image of the Moon used a cropped region of interest. The third image is the Rosette Nebula captured with a quick live stack of 12 x 5-second exposures under that bright Moon. #astronomy #flindersranges #flindersrangesandoutback #bintel #southaustralia #seesouthaustralia @southaustralia
