21.01.2022 Banks ignore SMEs at their peril. Small business owners can feel insignificant and forgotten when it comes to their banking needs. But recent figures from NAB prove that banks can no longer ignore them. The study showed that SMEs now contribute 57% of Australia’s GDP. On top of that they’re responsible for creating around seven million jobs in Australia. Despite this, many of them find it hard to secure the right finance to help them grow. What banks can perhaps sometimes fo...rget is that lots of big businesses were once small. But commercial finance brokers understand this, and have a passion for seeing small business clients grow. What’s more, recent advances in technology and software make it a lot more efficient for brokers to work in the smaller business loan space. There is so much an SME can benefit from a good relationship with a broker, so please call us to see how we can help. https://www.canstar.com.au//small-medium-businesses-contr/ https://business.nab.com.au/part-1-moments-that-matter-und/

21.01.2022 Are the 2017 tax cuts having an impact on your business? 2017 tax cuts by the Federal Government have the potential to boost small businesses. Business with an annual turnover of up to $10 million have had their tax rates dropped from 28.5% to 27.5%. A lower tax rate means small enterprises may have a bit of extra room to invest more, try out new ideas, employ people and grow their business. Of course, businesses need to plan to grow and be poised to take advantage of changes in their markets and industries, and that’s where having the finance in place comes in. Finding the right advice and product can be the key to the future success of your business. 21.01.2022 The importance of choosing a partner and getting good advice when setting up a business should never be under estimated.

16.01.2022 Happy New Year from the team at ARK. As the new year begins take time to sit back and reflect on the good times in the past year for both you and your team. It is as important to recognise your successes as well as the problems that you have overcome. Remember that each success has been made possible through dedication, hard work and the self development of you and your team.

16.01.2022 Are small businesses getting the starts they need? A recent survey by Xero uncovered some surprising figures about how small businesses get their starts. Eight in ten small business owners start with no outside financial help. Only one in five Australian small business owners had any form of outside financial help in getting their business going. And 79% used their own savings or started on a shoe string. It just goes to show how important it is for new owners to get the help of professional advisors, like finance brokers, who can help them secure the finance they need to hit the ground running. https://www.xero.com//whats-the-small-business-forecast-f/

16.01.2022 Living the small business dream. For many people, the decision to start their own business is more about a lifestyle choice than a financial one. A recent survey by Xero identified more than half (55%) of Australian small business owners cite wanting to be their own boss as the reason for starting their business. While the second most common reason was 42% of people saying they went out on their own to increase their income. After heading out and starting the business, half s...aid they’d like to go back to working for someone else. And half admit they now work ‘much harder’ running their own business than they did previously. Running a small business isn’t for everyone. It can be tough (and satisfying). But with good advice and the right finance, you can make a small business dream happen. Please call us to see how we can help. https://www.xero.com//whats-the-small-business-forecast-f/

14.01.2022 Good business finances point to growth. After a recent survey, the RBA believes that businesses’ finances are generally in good shape. Companies that are non-resource related are well placed to meet their financial obligations. So it’s no surprise that we’ve seen a rise in profits in the June half of 2017. It’s not just at the top end of town, smaller businesses have also enjoyed an increase in profits as their debt servicing ratio has stayed low. It just goes to show the importance of finding the right level of debt and structure. Get the right product, ensuring the repayments and security are appropriate, and finance becomes fuel for growth. Talk to us to find out how we can help you put the right finance in place. http://www.rba.gov.au//oct/household-business-finances.html

12.01.2022 Consumer sentiment is high while retail sales drop. What should small businesses do? Recent figures released to the market seem to contradict themselves, which makes it difficult to know what to do. In August, the ABS reported that retail turnover dropped 0.6% in August. That’s the biggest fall in about four and a half years. It was felt in every state and territory, and the businesses that fell the most were cafés and restaurants, with a 1.8% slide in turnover. Then, in Octo...ber, Westpac came out and reported a 3.6% rise in consumer confidence. This put it at 101.4 points (a one-year high), telling us that optimists are outnumbering pessimists for the first time since November last year. Does this point to the fact that the slowdown in retail consumption growth may see the RBA keeping the interest rates low for a while longer? And, apart from the good news that things appear to be looking up since August, it shows us that highs and lows are a normal, but frustrating, part of running a business. It’s essential that you plan for the inevitable cycles. Having the right finance can help keep you going when things are slow and put you in a good position to make the most of opportunities and grow when conditions are good. Why not call us today to chat about how we can help your business. http://www.abc.net.au//2017-10-11/westpac-consumer/9037794 http://www.abc.net.au//retail-sales-abs-august-2017/9018400

10.01.2022 It’s always about context. Successful leadership requires the ability to move from one style to another, depending on the context; this being the ability of the people you manage, the industry and the importance and urgency of the issue.

08.01.2022 How SMEs measure success will surprise you. These findings from NAB should confirm what you already know when it comes to different measures of success. 08.01.2022 How small business can turn the country around. A couple of recent polls of small business sentiment in 2017 are painting a picture of good things to come. One poll by Xero found that 49% of Australian small business owners were ‘very’ or ‘extremely’ confident of growth. Couple this with the results of the Westpac-Melbourne Institute SME Index, examining the economic health of Australian small and medium sized businesses, which found significant improvements in business confidence. When you consider that small to medium enterprises (SMEs) contribute to around 57% of Australia’s GDP, and create around 7 million jobs, then it’s safe to say that the country’s fortunes are in good hands. https://www.kochiesbusinessbuilders.com.au/small-businesse/

05.01.2022 A good insight on business valuations

05.01.2022 Small to medium businesses are confident of the future. It’s clear that many SMEs are excited about what the next year has in store for them. And, from recent figures released by NAB, we can understand why. One in ten SMEs reported that they were actively growing their business, while nearly half (45%) aimed to expand within the next three years. Over a third of these growing businesses have invested in winning new customers during the past year. And more than a quarter of gr...owing SMEs also invested in cost reductions, new equipment or premises, and the hiring of new staff over the past year. Having the right finance in place is vital for this type of growth to happen. That’s where a business broker comes in. Many new small business owners are unfamiliar with the various types of loan and are overwhelmed by the range of products. A business finance broker is the ideal way to get the right advice and identify the type of finance that suits your business’s needs and goals. 02.01.2022 How is your SME set for the future and how will the economy impact on your growth plans in the coming years.

01.01.2022 Are you one of the 40% of businesses planning to innovate to grow? A recent study by NAB bank revealed that a lot of innovation and change in the business world is driven by SMEs. Their size and need to find opportunities and niches in the market means they’re perfectly placed to try new things. The study revealed 40% of small and medium businesses planned to launch new products or services in order to grow their operations, while almost one-third planned to start selling onl...ine or increase their sales through the internet. Obviously online is where the biggest changes are happening for SMEs. The majority (56%) of all SMEs are run by Gen X or Millennial owners, with nearly a quarter of these (23%) being online only with no ‘bricks and mortar’ customer-facing business presences at all. Across all other SMEs, this number drops to 9%. Of course, innovation, change and growth all require a financial investment in the business. A business broker is the perfect place to start to explore any financing options. If you’d like to find out more about how we can help SMEs grow, please call us today. https://business.nab.com.au/part-1-moments-that-matter-und/
