21.01.2022 Paul Milet, Sevres - An Art Deco porcelain vase decorated in blue crystalline glaze & gilt metal mounts cast with ‘ribbon’ & stylised roses. Printed cypher to base. French, C 1925. ** The stylised rose is a variation of the so-called ‘La Rose d’Iribe’ was first designed by Paul Iribe for couturier Paul Poiret, circa 1908. It was adapted in various forms by other designers in both fashion & the decorative arts in France well into the Art Deco period.

06.01.2022 Mei Otoyuki - An exquisite signed lacquer inro of four parts. The cherry wood case lacquered with black & gold. The interior with gold ‘Nashiji’ flakes on red lacquer. The decoration features the warrior Kazusue Kajiwara on horseback with a plum branch in his quiver on the reverse holding a pennant reading Genpei Gassen referring to the Genji War of 1184. Japanese, 19th Century.
03.01.2022 A rare glass lace makers light concentrating flask. The spherical flask was filled with water then placed in front of a light source. The water reflects & concentrates the light on the lace being worked on. English, C1840.
