25.01.2022 The Roleystone Theatre re-build is a ‘go’ in 2020/2021! Thank you to our amazing councillors and especially our ward councillors Caroline Wielinga and Grant Nixon. Thank you for supporting the arts and our community. This could not have been achieved without the enduring support of the public, our community, passionate individuals and a ‘long game’ plan. Best news ever! ... Monday 10/8/20 ------ A reflection from our Roleystone Theatre President on Tuesday 11/8/20 - "It's difficult to express our heartfelt gratitude and joy at the news that the Roleystone Theatre re-build has been included in the 2020/2021 City of Armadale budget. This could not have been achieved without the enduring support of the public, our local community, theatre members and some very committed individuals. The fact that our City of Armadale councillors past and present have unanimously, time and again, moved this forward is a testament to the commitment to see this become a reality. The work that has gone on at Council level in the last two and a half years, whether working with the group to establish a temporary home to continue operations or working on the design of the redevelopment, is deeply appreciated. I have been reflecting on the journey so far since receiving the news last night, and the sheer amount of work from so many quarters getting to this point has been just amazing. It’s incredible what a focussed, committed and passionate community can achieve with the support of local government. We are confident that the redevelopment will result in having one of the best small theatres in the state right here in the City of Armadale, whilst retaining a building of significant cultural and historical heritage. Thank you to our local council for supporting the arts in our community with such an act of faith. We will work tirelessly as community volunteers to be worthy of this trust." All you need to do to help us out is to complete this quick four-question survey! Your assistance will help guide our planning as we start to re-activate so we can hopefully be back engaging members of the community both as audience and active participants. Roleystone Theatre Inc. 19.01.2022 I hope this is okay to post this here. Please please support the Council run initiative of our local art trail. As a matter of gentle fact, it would be fantast...ic if you could all give a massive shoutout and support for all us local creatives. We really need the support, encouragement and visits from our community to keep going. The Armadale Hills Open Studio Art Trail has two more Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays to run. All of us have worked our creative fingers to the bone (figuratively speaking) and as sensitive artists really ache to show you what we live for everyday. https://www.facebook.com/armadalehillsartstrail Gooooo Creatives x

15.01.2022 Oh what a joy to direct in community theatre this link makes it out to be! Speaking of... we at the Roleystone Theatre are seeking submissions for shows (and directors) for 2021! Of particular consideration in these uncertain times are shows that are: Out of copyright Locally written... Australian Quirky Comedy or light entertainment If you would like to discuss making a submission for 2021 please email [email protected] to start the ball rolling. Please get in contact by 21/9/20. As well as the usual plays, musicals, youth shows, concerts and one act plays... we are open to discussing any creative ideas you may have. Our 'home' in 2021 is still the Roleystone Hall - during productions we have acoustic curtaining to correct the acoustics, two full lighting trusses, a full stage with sprung flooring and cabaret seating (where restrictions allow). Ideally you would have directed before, but if you are just starting out then teaming up with an experienced director, directing a one act play or running a junior workshop (Working with Children Check required) would be a great way to get started. Even if you don't have the time to run a complete season, perhaps you could share your knowledge with a series of workshops (or just a one-off workshop)? We want to help build skills outside the usual production setting to make theatre arts as accessible as possible to everyone. Roleystone Theatre is a not for profit community theatre

03.01.2022 We have a crisis at large! The much loved and utilised Roleystone Theatre is under serious threat of being lost forever. This building, the only theatre in the region, has been left to ruin by our own City of Armadale (the property owners). The Theatrical companies that use the Theatre require a "fit for purpose" building to perform in... a building worthy for ticket purchasing patrons. Town halls with flat floors, plastic seats and poor acoustics will not suffice. For the s...ake of our Theatrical fellows and to keep the fine art culture alive in Armadale, we need your support. Please write to your councillors and throw your weight behind saving the Roleystone Theatre. It's an Armadale issue, we need to support our Fine Arts. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1907279302912984/
