This month's topic will cover the services available for people with disabilities through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). 10.01.2022 ARMIA House is currently looking for an on-call volunteer to pick up and deliver donated items in the Brisbane area. Donations will likely be given to our charity once a week or less. Some donated items (white goods, electronics etc) are quite large so someone with a ute or van would be ideal. Electrical licences and/or experience to test the items would also be helpful. 07.01.2022 Australia will pay 70 million Australian dollars (about $ 52 million) in compensation for the 905 asylum seekers held in the detention center in Manus Island between 2012 and 2016 on the grounds of physical and psychological damage. Rory Walsh, a lawyer from the Slater & Gordon Law Firm who sued on behalf of those held in the center, said at a press conference that the federal government agreed to pay compensation to 1,905 people held at the detention center in Manus Island, Papua New Guinea.
