25.01.2022 Armidale Dumaresq Lions were pleased to be able to welcome DG Kevin Thornton and Lion Julie to their meeting tonight. President Sue invited the DG to induct our newest member Terry Manning - we are delighted to have him on board. DG Kevin was introduced by Region 4 Chairman Bill Sutton who was accompanied by Lion Beth and Lion Chris. We were also delighted to see Zone Chairman Lloyd and his delightful grand daughters. PP Andrew was finally able to present the Judy Schuman Award to Lions partner Kevin in recognition of his contribution to our recycling project. Lion Julie enlightened us about the work of the Australian Lions Hearing Dogs and three members shared personal stories in our regular Show or Tell segment! A busy night for all those present!
24.01.2022 Prior to our 43rd Birthday dinner last week club members met at our Lions Park to remember former members Colin and Gerry. Colin joined Lions at Binnaway in 1978 and was a member of Guyra, Glen Innes and Ashford clubs before joining ADLC in 1995. Gerry was a Lion for 34 years with his first club being Kyogle followed by Scone and Singleton before joining ADLC in 1997. Both men were involved and active Lions even when their health challenged them.
24.01.2022 We were fortunate to be able to have another real meeting tonight with interesting guest speakers Associate Professor Wendy Beck and Colin Ahoy telling us about an exciting archaeological dig near Armidale. President Sue recognised Treasurer John’s 24 years of service to our club and presented her monthly President’s Award to Lion Jim - thanks for keeping us in contact with each other Jim.
23.01.2022 It was great to be able to have another Covid safe meeting at the Armidale City Bowling Club last night. President Sue was delighted to be able to present membership tabs to Lions Helen (11 years), Rob (30 years), Tony (25 years) and Pedro (7 years) in recognition of their service.
19.01.2022 Season’s greetings to all Dumaresq Lions and friends. Enjoy a few more Christmas Party photos courtesy of Lion Jane.
18.01.2022 A big thank you to the Dumaresq Lions who attended the community cleanup in the Giraween area this morning. You all earnt your coffee at Westside!
15.01.2022 We braved unexpectedly arctic conditions for our Community Cleanup this morning. We had so many layers on that movement was restricted and caps struggled to stay on in the gusty winds but we persevered and managed to relieve the Canambe St/Barney St/Grafton Rd area of unsightly street rubbish. Our thoughts were with Lion Marls and her family - Lion Gerry was always such a great supporter of Community Clean-ups.
14.01.2022 At our meeting last night nomination forms for 2021-2022 Board positions were distributed early in the evening. By the end of our meeting the Nominations Committee had been handed nominations for almost every position. Well done and thank you to our members. President Sue announced that the club will be using a special BBQ on Sunday 7th March to thank the people who have assisted us at our fund raising meat tastings over the last few months. On the same day members will also ...be joining staff from Newcastle Permanent for Clean Up Australia Day. Two great activities for Lions Awareness Day! Lion Grahame was thanked for his 16 years of active membership of Dumaresq Lions. We only had one participant in members Show or Tell last night. Our newest member Lion Terry reflected on his reasons for joining Lions last year, the special bond he had with his grandmother and the values that he developed with her help which contributed to his decision to join. 07.01.2022 Silly hats, crook jokes, quizzes, party bags, tinsel and a great Bowlo meal all combined to allow us to have a lovely evening of Christmas cheer last night. The spirit of Christmas was alive and well as we celebrated negotiating 2020. Best wishes to all for the Christmas Season and 2021.
06.01.2022 Great to be back at Bunnings today. A few changes to keep everyone safe and lots of support from Bunnings too. Thank you to our helpers and our customers too!
03.01.2022 A community Clean-up and two days at Bunnings will bring a very busy January to a close for Armidale Dumaresq Lions. Congratulations to Lion Rob Mc who was declared Lion of the Month at our last meeting in recognition of his work at the Lions Park. Thanks to Lion Peter M and Prue for hosting us at their home last weekend too....what a beautiful place to live.
