22.01.2022 18 years ago at 10:46 pm (AEST) we learnt of the horror unfolding in New York City. 2977 people who lost in their lives in these tragic events, of which 343 wer...e firefighters, 23 were New York City Police officers and 37 were officers of the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. Alongside firefighters and emergency services workers, we pause and pay our respects to those who we will never forget and we also think of those who are sick now or have since died due to their exposure to hazardous dusts and materials while operating at the site for many months after. With the commencement of Daylight Savings time it's also a good reminder to check your smoke alarm is in good working order. The risk of a fatality in a home fire is halved if there is a properly installed and working smoke alarm in a house. #preparedforanything
