02.01.2022 AFA IN THE COMMUNITY | Last week Armidale Futsal was delighted to support futsal in the community, working with local schools to develop girls futsal. Renee M...arkham and a set of referee's were in attendance, as the action kicked off for 2020. The PLC Armidale (Official) Girls Futsal competition has been running since 2019 and started with five teams from PLC Armidale, O’Connor, TAS and Armidale Secondary College. The 2020 competition has seen an increase in numbers with seven teams and over 60 girls participating from three schools, PLC Armidale, ASC and TAS. Mr Peter LeSurf, Director of Sport at PLC Armidale, said that he "would like to see more sports pushing all-girls competitions. Girls tend to get overlooked when participating in a mixed team, and with an all-girls competition, girls can play important and strategic roles within their teams allowing them to gain confidence in the sport and themselves."
