23.01.2022 Fundraising for Ronald McDonald House... Last Friday our Captains planned an event for the last day of term. It was a lovely afternoon, the students had lots of yummy food to pick from, Vietnamese, Japanese, sausage sandwiches and some baked goods. There were a few fun activities for the students to join in on, that included Arm Wrestling, Painting the Mural, Dodge ball and a Handball competition. Well done to our Captains who raised a FANTASTIC amount of money that will be donated to Ronald McDonald House. Thank you to all our volunteers/helpers for assisting in the preparation before and on the day. Great team effort by all...

14.01.2022 Jock Foster - 2020 NSW Queen's Prize Target Rifle Shooting... Jock Foster achieved some fantastic results in the 2020 NSW Queen’s Prize Target Rifle Shooting competition held at Anzac Rifle Range over the January long weekend. He was part of a contingent of competitors from Armidale Rifle Club. This is a prestigious individual competition and Jock’s first time, competing in the F-Class Open section. Jock was shooting against competitors much older and with a great deal more e...xperience than him. Jock won the 600m stage on Day 1. He achieved scores known as ‘Possible’ - a perfect score with every shot through the centre of the target - and he also scored a ‘Probable’ - a perfect score with every shot through the smallest circle on the target (super centre). Jock was the leader going into Day 3 of the competition, which was shot at 800m. A first stage possible (60.3) kept him on top going into the final 15 shot match. A tricky wind change in the final stage saw Jock drop just two points and finish with a score of 536.48 in 4th place from a field of 27. His 4th place was only one point behind the leader. The places are determined first on points, then on number of ‘super centres’. This is an outstanding achievement by Jock. Well done Jock.

13.01.2022 Part 1: In 1994, seven time capsules were buried by Duval High School students and staff. This week we eagerly crowded around to retrieve the capsules and have been slowly pouring through the contents. It has been ever so exciting to read the messages and ponder over the history! We will be sharing the treasures within as we progressively open the capsules.

The treasure included actual detention notices, absentee reports, curriculum plan, a newspaper article recognising 25 years since moon landing, a DHS glass, and a bottle of port! Interesting indeed! More discoveries to follow...

Today (Friday) we bought scooters and footballs which we will enjoy using at the new school. Thanks to all the staff for their support.

06.01.2022 Our Intensive English Centre (IEC) so enjoyed the visit from Surf Life Saving NSW today! With summer holidays coming up soon, the timing is perfect for the students learning essential skills, including how to identify a rip, where to swim, signals to communicate a need for help, and responding to the life guards. We had such a laugh in setting up a beach scene on the oval and simulating swimmers in trouble - and being rescued. Thank you for your visit and your engaging, and very fun, presentation.

05.01.2022 Lawn Bowls.... Year 10 boys - Kieran O'Baoill, Tom Dwyer, Keegan James and Tahaf Omar - have been having a wonderful time playing lawn bowls on Wednesday afternoons for sport. Under the guidance of Steve Stubbs, who volunteers his time every week to come and instruct, the boys have really improved. To culminate their efforts, Steve is organising for the boys to play a match against some other club members. Many thanks to Armidale City Bowling Club for the use of their outstanding facilities.

04.01.2022 Rugby League results from yesterday the 26/11/20..... ASC Defeat OCC in all grades of Well-being cup U/13s ASC 12 - OCC 4 U/16s ASC 22- OCC 6 ... ASC has regained the Well-being cup from cross town rivals OCC after a pulsating full day of Ruby League in Armidale. The girls were first and they were trained at elite level by NRL Development Officers before splitting into relevant age groups and playing in combined teams. Under 13s boys was an exciting game of football with the result not sealed until the final whistle when Hugo Fittler crashed over from close range to seal the game . Nathaniel Daley-Cutmore made his debut in team sports and proved the difference between the two teams with damaging runs up the middle and perfect textbook tackling to claim player of the match. Under 16s boys were a great advertisement for Schoolboy Rugby League with both sets of coaching pleased with what they had seen. Tensely locked 10-6 at halftime the ASC boys pulled away from OCC in the draining heat conditions. New to Rugby League, Oliver Freeman set Rugby League Park alight with his electrifying runs. However, a familiar name to RL Park was voted man of the match for ASC with Rari Widders-Lockwood showing his class in the second half to help ASC power away to a well-deserved win.

01.01.2022 A big congratulations to the ASC Triathalon team of Gideon, Jordan & Caleb who not only won their division in the Triathalon Schools Challenge this morning, but also won the fastest team of the day! Excellent work boys

01.01.2022 Today we had a lot of smiling faces from our students that were very happy to be back at school. Everyone had a great day and it was wonderful to listen to everyone laughing and chatting in the playground. We are understandably receiving a lot of enquiries about opening up the school to visitors, at this stage the Term 1 COVID guidelines allow us to host a gathering for 100 parents outside, but only 30 indoors and all gatherings are limited to an hour. We are planning to invite parents into the school (after hours) based on the year group of their child. More information to come but at this stage, Yr 12 Tues 16th Feb, Yr 7 Wed 17th Feb, Yr 9 and 11 23rd Feb and Yr 8 and 10 24th Feb. A larger community event will be scheduled when the guidelines allow. We do thank you for your patience.

01.01.2022 Through to the Semi Finals! Our Year 8 Debating team had a tough win today against Mount View High School arguing that politicians should be banned from using social media. Although it was a close debate, the panel of three adjudicators unanimously awarded the debate to ASC and were incredibly impressed with the standard of both teams. Next week we will be debating South Sydney High School for a spot in the State Finals!!! Congratulations girls -we're so proud of you

01.01.2022 ACPS Swim School... Every year, ASC strengthens it's community ties by providing helpers for the Armidale City Public School's Swim School, which is held over a 2 week period. Ashan Jarallah, Lavender Langat, Isabella McCarthy Wilkie, Cami Nadimi, Toby Nelson, Conrad Post, Rosie Pringle, Lillian Ridges, Wayne Slater Saunders.
