21.01.2022 First 2YO trial winner for Alpine Eagle The progeny of Armidale Stud's freshman sire Alpine Eagle continue to tick all the right boxes with his son Alpine Blast becoming the first trial winner by the impeccably bred son of High Chaparral. Bred and sold by Armidale Stud, trainer John Blacker purchased Alpine Blast for $45,000 from Armidale's 2020 Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling draft. ... Alpine Blast's 2.5 length trial win today at Longford impressed trainer John Blacker who has thought a lot of the gelding since buying him, "He improved from his first trial and hit the line well today. He has a great temperament and has indicated that he's ready, so if he pulls up well tomorrow, we'll aim to start him in the first Tasmanian two-year-old race at Hobart over 900m on Sunday." "I'm a big fan of Alpine Eagle and purchased eight yearlings by him at the sales this year. This horse really caught my eye as being one of the nicest colts at the sale, and although you wouldn't expect the Alpine Eagles to be early two-year-old's, he’s putting his hand up and will only get better at three," said John. Alpine Eagle's trial winner comes off the back of outstanding support received during 2020 breeding season where he has covered a remarkable book of mares. Armidale Stud take a strategic approach when it comes to planning the matings for Alpine Eagle and have worked hard to source young, well-related mares that will give him the best chance at proving himself as a stallion. Alpine Blast was a real favourite with Armidale Stud's Racing and Bloodstock Manager Rhiannon Whishaw who has been involved with him from day one. "We purchased Alpine Blast's dam Rose of Woorim specifically for Alpine Eagle based on her pedigree and type. She's a half-sister to Group One Oakleigh Plate winner and multiple Group winner Woorim, and we knew the resulting foal would be a head-turner. "We’ve loved him from day one, he was a beautiful first foal and we liked him so much that we opted to stay in the ownership, said Rhiannon. Alpine Eagle stands for $5,500 plus GST in 2020. 20.01.2022 News | Magic Millions Adelaide exceeds expectations We headed to Adelaide aware of the quality draft we had on offer but the results achieved have exceeded our expectations. Our sale kicked off with the Alpine Eagle Tula colt (Lot 58) selling to Suman Hedge Bloodstock, Will Clarken and David Jolly Racing. After his recent pedigree update, it was great to see this colt so well received.... Day One also saw our handsome son of Elusive Affair (Lot 161) head to the McEvoy Mitchell Racing team when purchased in conjunction with Belmont Bloodstock. This colt had all of his sire Alpine Eagle’s attributes, a horse Tony McEvoy knows a fair bit about. The standout for us was the thrilling result that saw Anthony Ottobre secure our Impending filly from resident Armidale mare Kandy Korn (Lot 224). We are absolutely over the moon! Last but certainly not least was the Alpine Eagle filly from Fastnet Rock mare Oceans (Lot 283) who was purchased by the South Australian team at Macdonald Gluyas Racing. It is great to see the support our resident sire Alpine Eagle is receiving around the country. With our third and final yearling sale for the 2021 series wrapped up, we would like to take the opportunity to thank all of the buyers for their support and also the teams at Magic Millions and Inglis for putting on such superb sales. We are so grateful for all of the support we have received and can't wait to see these little stars head out and perform on the racetrack! - Magic Millions #thewinningformula

15.01.2022 From gorgeous foal to stunning athlete. Alpine Eagle filly ex Grisbi. Now known as Glamella. #releasetheeagles

13.01.2022 Our boy 'Eddie' Alpine Eagle or Eddie (as he's known at home) is a bit of a lad and if he was a person, he would for sure be your school captain. A people's person, Eddie excels at everything, whether it's sporting or academic; he's just your typical over achiever. With a big personality, Eddie the eagle is popular among his peers and even more popular with the ladies (and why wouldn't he be...just look at him!) ... #SupremacyRedefined

We can't wait to see what the future holds for the next generation of Armidale champions as they progress towards the next stage in their lives. We're keen to hear who your favourite Armidale Stud raised horse is and why? Please share in the comments!... #aparadiselikenoother

11.01.2022 Best of friends. #armidale #AlpineEagle

08.01.2022 Yearling colts with more acres than they know what to do with. Their 'grandpa' has the situation under control, hanging back at a safe distance while making sure the boys don't get up to too much trouble #aparadiselikenoother

07.01.2022 The foaling unit is a very special place here at Armidale. It's where the bond between mum and bub starts and the spot where we welcome the racetrack stars of the future. Nothing beats watching a foal taking their very first steps, and for anyone who has spent time in the foaling unit, we're sure they'll agree that there's no better sound than hearing a foal taking its first drink.... / Ash Dunn #aparadiselikenoother

06.01.2022 Farewell to a Champion | Hellova Street The whole team here at Armidale are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of dual Tasmanian Horse of the Year and great warhorse, Hellova Street. Hellova Street, who was known as 'Butters' by those closest to him, started his life at Armidale Stud. We were fortunate enough to have him in our care during his early development and thoroughly enjoyed having him at the farm to spell throughout his racing career.... Born at Armidale Stud on the 9th of October, 2010, the chestnut colt by Helike out of Butter Street was a star from day one. He was a beautiful foal that furnished into a stunning yearling, and although he had his quirks, he was a favourite with the team. Trained by Scott Brunton, Hellova Street was every owner's dream. Bred and raced by a wonderful group of owners, the ten-year-old warhorse raced 59 times, winning on 20 occasions, including 13 at Stakes level. He was rarely out of the money and collected 16 seconds and 9 third placings. He banked $1,291,075 in prizemoney and gave his connections so many thrills during a career that spanned over seven seasons. Our team followed his career closely, and he always did us proud, competing at the top echelon of racing with the Armidale Stud brand on his shoulder. Our thoughts go out to his connections; he was one in a million and will be sorely missed. Rest easy Butters.

06.01.2022 Foaling season is almost done - we now turn our attention to preparing tomorrow's champions and best friends for the 2020 sales season. #Classof2020

06.01.2022 Our yearling colts continue to thrive throughout the sensational Tassie spring and we love nothing more than watching them grow in the months leading into yearling prep. Who thinks these strapping lads will be the next stars to join recent Group winning grads Mystic Journey, Soul Patch, Extra Time and Deroche on Armidale's Honour Roll? : Left - Smart Missile x Funloving colt, Centre - Alpine Eagle x Bet You She Rocks colt, Right - American Pharoah x State The Obvious Colt... #aparadiselikenoother

04.01.2022 Now that our month of sales madness is complete, it's time for the process to start all over again with the handling and weaning of our next generation of champions. The summer period is such a rewarding time of year as we see so much development in foals and yearlings as they thrive in the warm, fertile conditions that we're so fortunate to have here at Armidale. #aparadiselikenoother

03.01.2022 Another Tassie sales graduate from the Armidale draft salutes in style. Two more Tassie MM graduates won TasBred Bonus races at Launceston today -Swoop Dog and Vivilici . Congratulations to all the winning connections from the team at Armidale Stud.

02.01.2022 This little guy certainly stands out from the crowd and from day one, has been an absolute farm favourite. McEvoy Mitchell Racing look familiar? He was Lot 161 at the recent Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale. We can't wait to see this little beauty out and about on the racetrack in the not so distant future.... #thestampofsuccess

02.01.2022 Future Armidale Stud champions embark on their new adventure It's been one busy month for the Armidale team, selling yearlings in Tassie, Melbourne and Adelaide. We are so proud of the results achieved in the sale ring and would like to make a big shout out to our wonderful team, the buyers, bidders, Magic Millions and Inglis for making it all possible. Our resident sire Alpine Eagle was supported from far and wide and his progeny found great homes in stables throughout Austr...alia. He was the leading sire on aggregate and average (with three or more horses sold) at the Magic Millions Tasmania Yearling Sale and its magnificent to see that his first crop results have continued through to his second crop. The reports we have been receiving from his first crop are fantastic. We were proud to be the leading vendor on aggregate at the Magic Millions Tasmanian Yearling Sale once again and second-leading vendor on average (with three or more horses sold) at the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale. Our star of the show (Lot 224) from the Magic Millions Adelaide Yearling Sale also took the cake for being the highest-priced yearling by Impending to go through an Australasian auction thus far; we are thrilled to achieve this result for our friends over at Darley. Be sure to keep an eye out for #thestampofsuccess - Magic Millions
