23.01.2022 Stage 4 Update - Attention Heavy Vehicle Students: As you may heard by now VicRoads, in consultation with DHSS, has issued new guidelines regarding the delivery of heavy vehicle courses during Stage 4. From Monday 24 August 2020 only people with a valid Permitted Worker Permit will be able to book in for a heavy vehicle course. Anyone booking a course will need to send a copy of their permit to us and carry it at all times when travelling and undergoing their heavy vehicle ...training. If you are a permitted worker (employed by a permitted workplace under Stage 4 restrictions) then you will already have one of these, however if you haven't been issued with one or don't have one yet then you can obtain a permit via the Department of Health & Human Services website. A permit won't required once Stage 4 restrictions are lifted. We are currently contacting all our students who are booked in for a heavy vehicle course during Stage 4 to get a copy of their permit or transfer their course to a post-Stage 4 date. If you haven't received a call from us just yet feel free to cal to make arrangements to supply us with your permit or reschedule your course. Otherwise keep a lookout for a call from us very shortly. WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS - is what we keep telling ourselves! Keep safe and we look forward to seeing all our heavy vehicle students - who have a permit of course! - very soon.
22.01.2022 Important Update - Stage 4 Shutdown Restrictions: Armstrongs has been advised that we are unlikely to have confirmation as to whether we will remain open until tomorrow afternoon (Wednesday 5 August). As previously stated, all students who have a course booked for tomorrow are required to attend as scheduled. For everyone else with a course booked after that - stay tuned and we'll bring you the latest information as it comes to hand. Cheers the team at Armstrongs.
21.01.2022 Some good news finally! If you missed it, Dan Andrews just announced that from this Wednesday (28/10) there will be no more restrictions on the reasons to leave home. That means that you can leave home to attend any of our training courses without the need to have with you a permitted worker permit (although on a technicality, those attending courses tomorrow will still need to have one available). But basically its back to business as 'COVID-normal' usual. The only thing... still in place until further notice is the 25km travel limit - but 25km's is a long way as the crow flies and most of our clients live within 25kms of us, buy worth checking if you're not sure. Some reprieve on the horizon finally for our local retail and hospitality businesses. Remember the new mantra is no longer 'stay home' but 'stay safe'. See you all soon. https://www.premier.vic.gov.au/statement-premier-79 See more
21.01.2022 Very, Very Important Stage 4 Update - Armstrongs can confirm that we will remain open for business during the Stage 4 restrictions! Anyone with a course scheduled over the next 6 weeks will be able to attend. We will be emailing all our booked clients directly in the next couple of hours with further information. Thanks again for your patience and we'll see you for your course! Cheers the team at Armstrongs.
18.01.2022 There is still a little bit of confusion around whether a permitted workers permit is still required as a result of the Premier's announcement yesterday - the short answer is 'Yes'...unfortunately. So in a nutshell, if you already have a permitted worker permit then you're good to go. If you don't have permit then you could still be good to go IF you need the licence (heavy vehicle or motorcycle) for 'future' employment in a permitted industry (this includes using a motorcycle to travel to/from that future job). Clear as mud??? Otherwise if you don't need the licence for your work then you can just book a course for a date after 1 November when all restrictions are expected to be lifted.
16.01.2022 Here's a great article on one of our VTA Driver delivery Program graduates who now drives for Freestones. A really good story about what's possible with a little bit of determination - and fully subsidised Armstrongs training program courtesy of the VTA. If you ever needed any motivation to get into the transport industry then give this a read and keep a look out on our website for the VTA's 2021 Driver delivery program intake. Kudos to Freestones for giving young new drivers a go with the right training! http://ow.ly/486950CnynV
14.01.2022 We've recently completed another couple of upgrades to both our Thomastown & Truganina training facilities to make our client's training experience more comfortable. We've just completed a new all-weather student alfresco area (very fancy!) at Truganina AND a new student area (classrooms, kitchen facilities, toilets etc) for our forklift students at Thomastown. So no matter the weather, we've got you covered. Don't settle for anything less!
13.01.2022 COVID-19 really put a kibosh on our bus training using our beautiful route buses. However we are now able to put our route buses back into service. We've put in place some additional COVID-Safe measures (which we reckon everyone will appreciate!) so if you were looking to make that leap into the public transport sector then now is the time o get back in touch with us to arrange your route bus pre-employment course.
12.01.2022 Stage 4 Shutdown (No) Update - We're still getting a lot of calls about whether we'll be open after today. As per previous posts we are still waiting on a clarification from VicRoads which we expect around midday today, but believe us when we say we're not holding out on you! When we know, we'll let everyone know! Thanks everyone for your patience.
10.01.2022 Importance Shutdown Notice - Please be aware that Armstrongs is seeking further clarification form VicRoads and government as to whether the very recently announced shutdown restrictions affect Armstrongs and the licence training industry. We are in contact with VicRoads and we are expecting further clarification and additional information tomorrow. As soon as we hear anything, we'll be back in touch with all our clients to let them know the way forward. However everyone booked in for a course prior to the new shutdown measures coming into effect (courses booked for tomorrow 4/8, Tuesday 5/8 and Wednesday 6/8) please attend as scheduled. Stay safe from the team at Armstrongs. https://www.abc.net.au//victoria-coronavirus-case/12517344
09.01.2022 Stage 4 Update - Attention Motorcycle Students: As you may heard by now VicRoads, in consultation with DHSS, has issued new guidelines regarding the delivery motorcycle courses during Stage 4. Unfortunately we are no longer able to deliver any type of motorcycle training course until Stage 4 restrictions are lifted. We are busy calling all of booked motorcycle students in order to transfer everyones courses. As you can appreciate the goal posts don't remain in the same spo...t for long during this challenging time! We sincerely appreciate the patience and understanding of all our students. If you have a motorcycle course scheduled during Stage 4 and haven't received a call from us just yet feel free to call and reschedule your course or keep a lookout for a call from us very shortly. WE WILL GET THROUGH THIS - is what we keep telling ourselves! Keep safe. See more
07.01.2022 Finding it hard to get through to our team via phone? Fear not - online bookings will be re-activated and back up and running very shortly. Just like pre-shutdown you'll be able to find out when the next available course is and book and pay online 24/7. We have added some additional questions about COVID in order to ensure that everyone plays their part in keeping the Armstrongs training environment safe.
06.01.2022 Closed Tomorrow For 'Grand Final Day' public holiday. We don't care if you ring, just don't expect us to answer! Seriously though, the office will be unattended as we are all having a well-earned break tomorrow so if you want to call and leave us a message you're welcome too and we'll get back in touch with you when we re-open again on Saturday! Have a good one.
05.01.2022 Confirmation of Armstrongs Essential Service Status - To all our clients out there who have a heavy vehicle or motorcycle course booked with us, we can advise that we have received additional written confirmation that Armstrongs (defined as an ancillary service in its capacity as an approved provider to VicRoads) is permitted to remain open and continue to offer training and assessment services (heavy vehicle and motorcycle courses) during stage 4 shutdown restrictions. So y...ou attend your Armstrongs course with confidence that aren't breaking any of the restrictions! We will be providing a letter to every client confirming Armstrongs 'essential service' status shortly for anyone to also carry, however in the meantime carry you course booking confirmation with you when travelling to Armstrongs (and request that the authorities contact Armstrongs to confirm our status and your booking if required). Stay safe and we'll see you - as scheduled! See more
02.01.2022 To all Armstrongs FORKLIFT students - Unfortunately Armstrongs HAS NOT had its status as a permitted business confirmed by WorkSafe Vic (the authority that regulates high-risk licence training such as forklift licences) and as a result will not be offering forklift training courses until after Stage 4 shutdown restrictions end or WorkSafe confirm our status. We are currently contacting all affected students who have a forklift course booked with to transfer their course to a post-stage 4 date. Please note this only applies to our Forklift students (and not our truck or motorcycle students - see previous post). Sorry guys! We appreciate your understanding but hopefully we'll just being seeing you a little later than originally planned! Stay safe.
01.01.2022 Important Notice - Stage 4 Shutdown Restrictions: To all our future clients out there who have a course booked with Armstrongs over the upcoming shutdown period, we are actively working to seek confirmation and clarification from VicRoads regarding whether Armstrongs will remain open. We appreciate that this is an uncertain time however Armstrongs will let all its all clients and the wider Armstrongs community know as soon as we hear anything. As per our previous post, cour...ses scheduled for today and tomorrow are/will continue as schedule unless notified otherwise and we will keep you updated throughout the day. We thank you for your patience and understanding and advise everyone to keep an eye on our FB and website (and maybe just save that phone call asking 'what's happening?' until a little later! ). Stay safe until then. Cheers the team at Armstrongs. See more
01.01.2022 Armstrongs is looking for the best heavy vehicle trainers to join its team potentially that could be you (or someone you know). During these difficult times the transport industry has proven itself to be an extremely robust and buoyant industry - in fact, Armstrongs actually hired additional trainers during COVID restrictions - and we are looking to hire and onboard even more heavy vehicle trainers to keep up with demand and our recent expansion in the western suburbs. Hea...vy vehicle training and licensing remains an essential service and Armstrongs continues to play a part in keeping the supply chain moving by providing quality heavy vehicle training and assessment services to the public and the transport industry. If you have a love for driving heavy vehicles but are wondering what else you might be able to do with all that heavy vehicle driving experience and knowledge (other than drive for 60-70 hrs a week!) then Armstrongs could be your next career move.
