20.01.2022 Div 1 Ladder Update: PELICANS REMAIN UNDEFEATED AND TOP OF THE TABLE! It's nearly the end of May and Armstrong United's DIV 1 side remains undefeated and sits top of the table. Although Barwon Soccer Club and Bell Park Sports Club are breathing right down our necks, all on equal points ... We'd like to note, a lot of our top of the table success is down to a strong club culture.... and being named Armstrong

20.01.2022 Pelican Fact of the Day: Pelicans attack their prey by diving into them at high-speed, stunning their victim. It’s a dangerous stunt, but pelicans have numerous adaptations that keep them from injuring themselves when they smack into the water. To keep their neck vertebrae from getting broken, they stiffen the surrounding muscles as they dive; by throwing their wings straight backwards, pelicans can avoid fracturing any of the bones in the appendages on the unforgiving waves.... They also have sacks of air around their necks that inflate on impact, like an airbag. This is unlike the Armstrong United Pelicans, where diving is frowned upon. That was your Pelican Fact of the Day

14.01.2022 As there isn't a whole lot going on soccer-wise at the moment, here is a fact about Pelicans. Pelican Fact of the Day: Pelicans don't store food in the pouch on their bills Despite what the catchy children's song tells you, a pelicans beak cannot hold more than it's belly can. A pelican's beak does not hold any food, it's only used as a way to capture food. ... This is similar to the Armstrong United Pelicans, who also don't hold food in their bills. This has been your pelican fact of the day.

04.01.2022 ANNOUNCEMENT - SEASON 2020 Armstrong United FC wish to advise that our committee last week made the difficult decision to withdraw all football teams for the 2020 season. This includes the all seniors, juniors and mini roos teams. With the uncertainty around restrictions and a lack of clear direction from Football Victoria It has become evident that we cannot guarantee a safe environment for players to play football or for our members to come to the games to support, if gam...es were to get going without risking infection from the COVID19 virus. Put simply, we aren’t willing to risk the health and well-being of our players and families. We aren’t willing to enter teams this week as required by Football Victoria without any confirmation of season start or length. We aren’t willing to ask our players to pay for registration with the above all still to be determined. Last week we conducted a survey of players and parents, with 70% of players supporting a cancellation of the season and regroup for the preseason in preparation for season 2021. We acknowledge that sport is very important to the overall wellbeing and mental health of our players and their families. As much as we would love to return to normality, the landscape in this this global pandemic is constantly changing and it would be remiss of the club not to put the well-being of our community front and centre. We hope you appreciate and understand the cautious course of action we are taking. Once we are in a position to reopen the club in accordance with government and local council guidelines we will put together a range of free sessions and social events (training, friendly games etc) ensuring the AUFC community can reengage with our great football club. This may be the end of our official season in 2020 however our club and members will be as active as ever on the pitch in the coming months once restrictions allow, albeit in a different way than usual. We will be announcing registration refund options and plans for social activities and training sessions once the restrictions ease and a path forward becomes clearer. While season 2020 was going to be a great year for the club, our resolve for success will only become greater as we begin to plan for season 2021.
