17.01.2022 Ever wonder where the phrase ‘It takes 21 days to form a new habit’ comes from? It’s kind of been like a game of Chinese Whispers or a stark misinterpretation of the work from Dr Maxwell Maltz on self image that came up with the familiar phrase. Dr. Maltz stated that it took on average a minimum of 21 days for his patients to become familiar with their face after having surgery. A minimum. And this was in relation to surgery, not a life changing habit. From what I’ve found ...the latest research states 66 days - a good round figure really to form a new habit. So if you can do something for 66 days it will stick with you forever Wrong. Nothing is forever, and everything takes daily committed work. How long have you been working on your scrolling habit yeah? Got it mastered? The key within those 66 days is to get through the ‘honeymoon’ phase and win a few ‘fight thrus’. What are fight thrus? Fight thrus are when this new habit is still happening, but the old habit or laziness creeps in, allowing you to easily slip back into ‘what once was’. How do you get through them? Self talk. Recognise that you’re in this spot. And then ask yourself questions to motivate yourself through it. ‘How will I feel if I do this?’ / ‘How will I feel if I don’t do this?’ And then bring the emotion in let yourself feel the positive and the negative as well! And if you’re still struggling, future pace and ask yourself ‘will older version of yourself be thankful for the work that you put in now?’ And vice versa. Be completely honest with yourself and allow yourself to feel what life will be like if you don’t continue with these positive changes that you’ve made so far. Once you’ve moved through the ‘fight thru’ phase you can still come across bumps in the road such as being discouraged by the lack of perceived results and disruptions to your routine. It’s important to get back on the saddle and keep riding. Keep going back to that question and your motivation to change. Because in reality, good habits take daily commitment. And daily checking in with yourself or your accountability buddies. #evokekinesiology #evoke #evokeactive #accountabilityprograms #evokemeditate

03.01.2022 Last night we had a Evoke dinner. It was sensational. What I always get surprised by is the gifts and thank you cards I receive for running the programs that I do. It is so humbling and heart warming to know that me doing what I love to do, helps other people. And I think that’s the money ticket. If you can live an aligned life, where you love what you do, so much that it rarely feels like work, and that work impacts others lives positively - you’re on to a winner. ... I cannot put into words my gratitude. I will borrow some words from the cards though - giving us a space to heal, share, love and be loved is nothing short of amazing - I’ve learnt that being vulnerable is the key to a deeper and more enriching life - and in the world we live - isn’t it so lovely to have a place where woman can feel safe. #evoke #evokekinesiology #meditate #active #myevoke #evokeself #safe #vulnerable #woman

02.01.2022 Hello my name is Arnna and I’m a compulsive drink half a cup of tea and forget about it person. Pleased to meet you.
01.01.2022 To all those Mums of boys. To all those dads of boys. To all those who have little men in their lives. This. This is important. I have called people out for referring to Billy has a sook when he shows emotion - and I will continue to do that because it is super important that boys (which will become men) learn it is ok to have emotions and to show them. Because it is in the dampening and the avoidance of emotions that anger, frustration and resentment fester - and eventually come out. Sometimes many years later. And usually - that isn’t in the most nicest of ways. Teach your boys to take care of their bodies, to pamper themselves, to develop a self care routine. Teach them that everyone has emotions, that kindness is key. But most of all - show them these things. It is in the doing that the magic happens.
