A personal favourite reason to give a promise ring: the promise of forever friendship. The main focus of a promise ring is not necessarily a gemstone or any kind of... flashy design- it is the personality of the person who will be wearing it. The most famous/traditional form of promise ring is a Claddagh ring which features a heart (which symbolises love) wearing a crown (representing loyalty) cupped in two hands (representing friendship).
