It was also fabulous to see the launch of the RAP Artwork beautifully created by Adnyamathanha Yura Shu Brown that will reflect all things reconciliation as the Centre continues along its journey. A huge congratulations to the team of the Geelong Arts Centre, particularly Kylies At Weenthunga who has been pivotal in all the community engagement and culturally strengthening for the organisation. 21.01.2022 Arranyinha had the absolute honour of facilitating an acknowledgement of country project between Villawood Properties and Wathaurung Aboriginal Corporation trading as Wadawurrung. The idea was seeded by the Leaders for Geelong participants through the Committee for Geelong. Arranyinha sourced the artist, facilitated the conversations between Wadawurrung Traditional Owners and Villawood, as well as creating innovative ways for the artwork to be installed. Congratulations to Bi...lly Otoole for a culturally significant piece that describes the layers and depth of connection the Wadawurrung have with their country. Thank you to Mike Treloar and Noel Murphy at Villawood Properties, your heart for approaching this project with cultural respect and collaboration was seen throughout each stage this project. Thank you to Wathaurung Aboriginal Corporation for entrusting me, once again, with something so significant and educational that will make a generational impact. Thank you Villawood Properties for capturing and sharing such amazing photographs of the day.

12.01.2022 Another powerful Privilege and Unconscious Bias: First Nations Impact workshop designed and delivered by our amazing Director and Co Founder Marsha Uppill to the Reconciliation Action Group members of The Gordon right here in Geelong. The workshop is designed in a way that allows for the inclusion of current impacts being experienced by First Nations people creating real time and relevant learnings. Previous workshop participants have had this to say:... Marsha is a highly engaging and professional presenter while still being real. The session was valuable and informative, and I encourage people to open their minds to this learning for personal growth.... Staff Member, Sunbury Community Health. Marsha made me check my privilege, it was hard, but necessary..... Staff Member, Geelong Regional Library. I found Marshas sessions to be facilitated in such a way that it creates a safe and welcoming environment where we are all gently and compassionately challenged to explore our own unconscious biases thus becoming more aware of ourselves and how we interact with the world around us.... Jennie, Sunbury Community Health. The Privelege and Unconscious Bias workshop will make you think outside of your comfort zone and is a must for all business owners...... Alison, Geelong Business Woman. Marsha says "its an honour to walk this journey with the people who are taking a step towards change in the individual, that ultimately engenders change in the community, positive change for our todays and our generations to come". If you would like to know more about this training or like to book a session for you and your staff, contact [email protected] or check out www.arranyinha.com.au Adi Nakarchin x
12.01.2022 Today is a significant day for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Its a day of sadness that recognises the pain, grief and loss we experienced because of the forcible removal of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children from families, but also their country, community and culture. Sorry. It means you regret what was done. It also signifies a time of honour and reflection for what was lost.... Last year, I stood at the very place my mum, her 2 sisters and 2 brothers were stolen from. I cant put into words what went through my heart, my mind, my body at that time. But none of that even compares to the heartache of my Nanna, Mums and uncles. Today I am sorry, for the devastation that continued to take place in my community, to my people over such a short period of time. Today, I am sorry for all the children who are still looking and may never know where they came from and where they belong. Today, I am sorry for the survivors who found home and country but were never to meet or see their Mum and Dad again. Today, I am sorry that the efforts of one to destroy another has caused such heartache and brokenness that has impacted generations. Paying my respect and sending love, strength and determination to my brothers and sisters, we all survived this together. Paying my respects to elders all over this continent, please know I stand with you all. #NationalSorryDay2020 See more
