23.01.2022 Senator Anne Ruston , the Minister for Families and Social Services has said those on the "pathway to citizenship" would have the waiting period to access government benefits waived, bringing them into line with jobseekers across the country. The situation in relation to other visa holders is less clear. "There are a range of different visas and there are so many of them," Senator Ruston said.... "I am currently working my way through those visa types to see what options there are available to assist those people," "I already have the capacity as the Minister for Social Services to grant what we call special benefit to those people on visas that would not otherwise be eligible for Australian social security payments if they are in a time of financial hardship." We will update our followers as soon as we have any news on government initiatives

08.01.2022 Breaking news - The Australian government have announced that Skilled visa holders will get access to superannuation ! Most temporary visa holders with work rights will be allowed to withdraw up to $10,000 of their Australian superannuation this financial year to help them through the crisis. Acting Immigration Minister Tudge said people on temporary skilled visas who have been stood down, rather than laid off, could have their visas extended under normal arrangements, while... businesses could also reduce their hours without breaching conditions. But he said those who have been sacked and are unable to find a new sponsor should leave. "However, should a four-year visa holder be re-employed after the coronavirus pandemic, their time already spent in Australia will count towards their permanent residency skilled work experience requirements," he said. Mr Tudge said international students were "encouraged to rely on family support, part-time work where available and their own savings to sustain themselves". As part of their visa application, students have to demonstrate they can support themselves during their first year in Australia. Those who have been here for longer than that will also be given early access to their super accounts. https://minister.homeaffairs.gov.au//supporting-agricultur

04.01.2022 In our manifesto, we refer to our Chamber community as being "unique, authentic and passionate. Professional and real". In recent days, I've been heartened by t...he resolve shown by that Chamber community in the face of unprecedented challenges and, more importantly, their desire to get involved and provide support to each other. You are walking the talk and it's a credit to you all. Starting on Monday, we will host a series of webinars to provide a channel for you to seek and find support, share your experience and remain active in the Chamber community. You can register for the webinars via https://www.irishchamber.com.au/events This is just the first phase of our support response and we are committed to continuing to develop options for you to access information, and virtual spaces for discussions to help you navigate the weeks and months ahead. 04.01.2022 A huge thank you to Narelle, Olivia and the team!! I had been living in Australia for just over a year and did not have a great experience with my agent who hel...ped my sponsor (though they still got me here, I’m grateful). Narelle was referred to me by a friend, I order for me to work out how to get my PR she allowed for me to ask her some questions before as I had no idea where to begin and what my options were, this in itself was such a relief. It can be very intimidating and also an investment financially but know I needed support from an agency. I was guided every step of the way, the responses/communication were prompt and would hear back on anything no less than 24 hours. They were professional and on top of it, I now have my permanent residency and it’s such a relief to have this behind me. I won’t recommend anyone else, you’re in great hands.

02.01.2022 Given the exceptional circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the Irish Australian Chamber of Commerce is taking measures to ensure the safety of our C...hamber community. Following the recent updates to guidance from authorities, in an effort to protect the health and well-being of our network, we have had to make adjustments as to how we engage with members. While we are postponing our in-person events and rolling out informative webinars, described below, to support our community, we will continue to work on other initiatives and ideas to deliver value to our members. Further, we will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates on our future "in-person" events when available. However, we are acutely aware of the challenges facing member companies across a wide spectrum of business activities during this exceptional time, and have committed to making a positive effort to continue to support you. Starting in the next few days, we will be delivering a series of webinars where a resident expert within the Chamber network will share insights and take your questions on topics such as: * Working with your bank to access assistance * Getting grant ready and accessing the right funding area * Travel management and what to do if your plans change * Visa advice for leaving or coming to Australia * Employer / employee responsibilities These webinars will be advertised on our website and social channels as details are confirmed and, in an effort to share support with the wider business community, we will not restrict booking to financial members, this information will be made available to all. If there are additional topics that you would like us to cover, please let us know via [email protected] and we will do our best to assist. Equally so, if youre able to present on a relevant topic, please let us know and we will try to schedule you into the response.
