11.01.2022 The ARSC Team would like to extend A huge Congratulations to the NGF Paddington Emergency Response team for taking out the 2019 Underground Rescue Competition in Emphatic Style. The 1st Team EVER to take on the whole competition from the start with only a 5 Person Team. The well deserved results: Search & Rescue - 2nd... Fire Fighting - 2nd Rope Rescue - 2nd (even though they were the only team to finish?) First Aid -1st Team Skills - 3rd Overall First Aid - 1st Best New Captain - 1st Best New Team - 1st Best Captain - 1st Best Team - 1st From my personal perspective; it was joyous & humbling to work with such a magnificent bunch of people. Their work ethic & determination was second to none. They smashed everything I threw at them in training (and I threw amounts well in excess of any other team I've been with). More they said. More. My final Scenario for them to conclude our training: Establish a water source; Fight a fire; conduct a zero visibility search for casualty 1, Airway management & 1st Aid on Casualty 1; Lift a sea container off casualty 2's leg with lifting bags; rope access to casualty 2 & lift him out; Splint leg break on Casualty 2 & complete assessment - all under BG4,,,,,,, I estimated 2+ hrs. 1hr 20 later they've finished & asking me if that's all I've got! On the weekend, they finished every scenario - this wasn't achieved by any other team. Many times throughout the weekend it was sheer dogged determination to finish, that kept them going - often sending them to the brink of exhaustion both physically & mentally. . Then the crazy buggers would take a 30 minute breather & do it all again. The care they showed for each other, and the attitude of never wanting to let the team down. I'm truly in awe of this bunch. Deepest respect.

07.01.2022 So, I spent the weekend with a bunch of fantastic folk, assisting the emergency response mutual aid weekend. With assistance from Tim Campbell, Jim Filov from Gas Tech Australia, Lawrence Hunter, Jess Kinnersley and Maria; we ran the "Jim in Wonderland" scenario underground at KB, and the Vehicle Extrication Scenario at Nortons. Its great to be part of this massive volunteer group that is the Emergency Response Community in the Eastern Goldfields.
