15.01.2022 Odette's Artist profile (Written by Shawn Gonsalves) Odette grew up in Bombay (Mumbai), a melting pot of Indian culture fused with British & Portuguese influenc...es. From a young age, Odette demonstrated a passion for art, music & dance. After her children grew up and left the coop, she focused her energies on painting and a career in interior decor. In 1984, Odette won a national competition in Interior design and also gained recognition nationally for her paintings on wild stallions and race horses. As a philanthropic gesture, the proceeds of her art auction at the Bombay Derby race were donated to the Disabled Jockeys Fund in 1985. Odette's vibrant personality drove her to exhibit her work globally, including India, Germany, USA & Great Britain. More recently, Odette has exhibited and sold her paintings at the 60th Hunters Hill Art Exhibition as well as at Drummoyne, St. Ives and the North Sydney Art exhibitions. After a decade of illness and personal loss, Odette has returned from her hiatus with a new perspective and renewed vigour. Her recent work demonstrates an artist's portrayal of ethnic beauty influenced by Pablo Picasso's cubistic style. Odette hopes you enjoy her current exhibition that personifies her love for music, horses & vibrant colour. - 24th August 2016

13.01.2022 This painting was sold at auction in Sydney, Australia, and the proceeds were donated towards rebuilding the Divine Retreat Centre, Potta, Kerala, India, which was devastated by floods in August 2018. Fr Vallooran V.C. we pray for your selfless staff as they work tirelessly to recover the Retreat complex, so that it can reopen its doors to those who seek Jesus
